Better shock absorbers for towing?

From the Nivomat propaganda...

"you can't put regular shocks on a Nivomat vehicle since they are designed-in and supplement the regular springs."

That would imply that they carry a portion of the weight.

Those only came on burbans...

Trucks never saw them...

i have Bilstein 5100s on my truck and am very happy with them as well.

That's good to know. They are costly.
They did work good though. Notice how you never see a late model burban with a saggy rear end. Then GM goes to a IRS and coils. We'll see how that works out.

We just picked up this 2003 in May. I noticed a slight noise at the left rear. Looking under there I see this odd looking shock with the outer tube slid down all the way to the axle housing. Hmmm.... I figure it's just a dust shield and look up replacement shocks... OUCH! $$

I just added a set of Monroe to my rig. I don't even know if an OEM style shock is available. Sure you can buy an AC Delco something for your GM, but is it like the factory. I have my doubts. I have some dips in the road that I generally sail through and at first thought the ride was firmed up. After a month, I wasn't so sure. I'll pass the word on the 5100's.
