Beware of Catalytic Converter Thefts

Don't kid yourself. I bought a scrap dakota for front end parts to fix mine. Paid $600, fixed my truck, got a almost new set of wheels and tires as well. Sold the catalytic converter and pre-cats for $550 as scrap. Sold some other parts for $300. Need to pull the rear glass for mine then take to scrap for another $200+. Some Cats go for over $1000 as scrap.
So you got $550 for 2 precats and 2 cats? $550/4= $137.50 per unit, not very far off of the numbers i posted.

10yrs ago I scrapped many cars and what I posted is what I used to get for them. I guess like everything the sky's the limit now.

Some vehicles may have two CATS such as Some Ford trucks and Prius more rare elements.

Sometimes it can take months for replacement and installing used might not be legal.

they stopped copper wire theft here by implementing law requiring either en electrical license for instant payment, or a 10 day wait to pay out, with current address info, photo copy of drivers license. they need to do the same sort of program for this. not too prevalent here, but is happening in spokane wash.

Last time I sold scrap it was as if I was a criminal… even needed my thumb print and took my picture giving a composite of photo, drivers license and thumb print.

They said it is checked against a data base and if clear I can return a week? later for my payout…

I was decluttering and once was enough.

I want to know the market for people that cut off the Year sticker on your licensee plate. This only cost me $50 in Oregon to have it replaced, but I imagine it is a bit more expensive in other areas. It did piss me off, cause I worked for a charity at the time and was not getting much money doing that. And someone cut out my plate, of my brand new renewed annual two year, off a '93 Ford Festiva car, which is the very definition that you are also poor. And they took plates anyway, off all my co-workers that didn't need this, and can't afford this.

How did we get here?

We have had this in the hospital parking lot but not so much now…

The homeless people that hang out here don’t drive and they scare away most common criminals…

Idaho year stickers also have license number printed on them. Stopped all that crap

The less you enforce crime, the more you get. Sorry that has happened to some of you.

I'm surprised hoods don't have locks...I know they would only slow them down a bit.

I’m liking Idaho all the more…

Too bad for me the quota of California transplants already met.

The “Kids” 3 lots up are doing well… they sold well here and found just what they were looking for in Idaho…

It’s often the same reasoning… not that here is so bad but they look at each other and say do you want to grow old here??? and off they go with cash in hand.
