447/448 Specs

Made my day Cocre! Looks to me like a BIG difference in digging force between the two......I will definitely be looking for a 448 or a 485......seems that they are a step up all the way around in duty ratings....assuming the 485 follows in the same fashion over the 375.

for what it's worth.. I have the 448 on my 2007 3320 and have probably tackled more than I should have.. but have had no issues or complaints so far. I am impressed with it's capabilities and power and it is easy to mount/dismount as you just need to remove 2 large pins and use the 3pt hitch bars to raise/lower it. If you have any questions about capabilities I can give you examples as to what I have done with it.. just shoot me a message. Either way.. 447/448 they are definitely worth every penny as they "complete" an already extremely versatile piece of equipment.

With my following comments, I'm not suggesting you shouldn't follow up on a 448 / 485. As previously mentioned the 448 / 485 will dog a foot deeper or provide longer reach and has more powerful specs.
I suspect, but cannot say for sure since I only have experience with a 447 - depending on the direction the BH is trying to operate the 447 has enough power to pull the 3320 around - so with some operations I'm not sure the extra strength of the 448/485 could be fully utilized.
Crashed...I would love to see pictures/descriptions of some of your more trying backhoe projects. If it wouldn't be too much trouble...pictures seem to say it all and I would really like to see what can be done with this thing. I appreciate the info!
Cinder...I hear where you are coming from. I was a little concerned with the chance of over-stressing and possibly damaging the tractor or hoe "quick-tatch" with the 448/485's size/strength. The way I look at it now is, I would prefer to have the capability and work easy without stressing the unit....but still have the ability to press it a bit when needed (i.e. freeing larger stumps...fracturing layered caliche'/limestone, popping roots, etc.)....even if it meant taking a bit of extra precaution. Thanks for the first hand knowledge...I will give it more thought...but I have a hard time passing on the extra ability for not much additional $$$.
Cinder....BTW...I believe I saw your machine on the forum while looking for info on these hoes. Nice looking rig and from what I could see....a gorgeous place too...the lawn looked great! I'll bet that MMM was a welcome addition

The good (or bad) thing about the attachments for these tractors is the ease with which they will move the tractor around - the FEL or the BH.
The JD 8A hoe would drag my JD 970 around like a Bad Dog - if I didn't pay attention to the way I was working the machine!
I have some pics of digging stumps with that hoe that I've posted here on TBN. It was amazing the size and weight that it would hoist outta the ground. And the thumb was the key to making that possible! :thumbsup:

I got specs for the JD site. But that was in 2008.
Ended up with a Kubota B2630. Size/Spec wise the JD 3x20 the next size up for me. Thinking about upgrading. My Kubuta is awesome, but I could use a bigger loader.
Currently I can't even find the specs on the 300CX loader on JD's site.
I did create a SS with detailed specs on all models I considered. If can find it I'll send to you.
Oh, just thought about it. Do they have the manuals online? Might be able to find a 447/448 manual with specs.

Thanks Guys ....Cocre sent spec sheets for the 447/448 in a post above.....I have worn the John Deere site out but I have found it difficult to locate specs for many of the attachements. It could be that I am going about it the wrong way but the site seems fairly straight forward. I did manage to find the JD thumb for their 485....it looks pretty good...adjustable and heavy duty. I was able to spot a few things that I hadn't seen on the site by completing the "build-your-own" feature and searching every option listed. Most of the attachments have an additional information link that will include some basic specs and better photos of the item. I got a quote on a new 485 with the Rockshaft Assist Moununting Brackets, Adaptor frame weldment plate, 18" bucket, Power-Beyond kit, Thumb (part #LVB26057), with freight and installation for $10, 217 out the door. My dealer showed a discount on the whole package of $1,113 to bring it to that final price, but still... $10K+ is allot of $$$$......I am still weighing my options.
