I am thinking your Cub Cadet 2450 uses standard AG 1/2" Pioneer valve hydraulic ports. Two ports in the back supply pass through hydraulics to your backhoe. I have attached hydraulic specs for your CC 2450 below.
I'm not sure why you using a pass through hose to your tractors backhoe hydraulic ports, when you disconnect the backhoe. Those ports should automatically close the valve when hoses are disconnected.
Also, do you have a backhoe hydraulic control lever near the tractor seat? If so, that lever will not only open and close your rear hydraulic port, but it also controls hydraulic flow direction too, so you can extend or retract your top link cylinder. That lever maybe has A-N-B labeled on it, so A raises your top link, B lowers your top link, and N is the pressure off setting. I have been trying to find an operators manual for your tractor, to see if you have that hydraulic control lever.
Update: I checked and your operators manual shows no such hydraulic control lever for your tractor. Your going to have to build your own control switch box to run a hydraulic top link. Going out of the ports to the switch box and from switch box to top link. Essentially your installing your own control lever. This is going to be more complicated and costly than simply connecting a hydraulic top link to the ports. But it can be done.
You are correct. There is no control for the ports that feed the backhoe. Those are "hot" anytime the engine is running. That was why my idea is to use that hydraulic power to run a rear remote. It would have to remain free flowing as if the BH was in place but be able to utilize the pressure to flow as directed to the rear remote.

Many small TLB's put the hoe as first in line in the hydraulic circuit from the main pump and then feed things like the FEL and 3 pt hitch using a power beyond port on the hoe valve.
The hose loop is needed when the hoe is removed otherwise you just dead head the pump and do not provide any flow to the FEL and 3 pt hitch
This is why you cannot just unplug the hoe hoses from the quick connects.

Exactly correct sir. You have to have the hoses connected when the pump is turning. I could be incorrect in my terminology but I would call a power beyond port a connection that is able to be used or not and controlled by a valve to open or close the flow of oil. The setup used here is a constant flow.
I further expect that you have a third BH quick connector on your tractor. Besides the two connectors that need to be looped, the third is a TANK port so that the BH valve has a path for the oil flowing through the BH relief valve to get to the reservoir.

There are only two hoses used to power the BH. Under a relatively low flow and pressure system there should not be a need to have a separate line to divert return oil to the system (I think).

All of the BH setups I have seen only have two hoses....and yes must be looped when backhoe is off.

The backhoe "attachment" is also not usually first in line. Rather second to last and the only thing AFTER it is the 3ph.

They skimp out on the BH attachments valve.....and do NOT use power beyond.....just simply the tank....even though the 3PH is AFTER the backhoe.
This isnt a problem because you cannot use the 3PH with the hoe attached anyway. BUT....most MFG's caution you to lower the arms all the way and DO NOT RAISE. Because doing so makes the 3PH a function building pressure now....and you are only feeding it with BH return and NOT power beyond. Can easily blow the spool/case seals out of the backhoe valve.

For the PROPER installation of a SCV (rear remote).....you need THREE lines off the valve (not counting the two that go to the remote couplers)

A tractor with a backhoe installed already has TWO of these figured out for you....the supply and the power beyond that feeds the 3PH.
You need a valve that has the optional PB plug.

Connect your lines to the new valve.....only thing you need to add is a return to tank.
Now a couple short hoses and couplers and you are set.

IF it was me personally.....Id forget the hoe for a minute.....set the tractor up properly with a SCV.....get a valve with a detent (or use the tried and true bungee cord). and convert the BH hoses to plug right into the SCV. Just make sure you mark supply and return and hook them up right. Putting pressure to the return side of the BH valve isnt good
