Hey newbury,

In this case...I don't mind swapping the valve...but no...no offer was made. They do use a knowledgable driver ...but I'm not sure of his mechanical aptitude in all situations. If this doesn't fix it I would hope they would offer to drop by on the next delivery and help out...but maybe that won't be the case. I bought 2 tractors this go around from Barlows. I only wish I had a dealer nearby who was willing to negotiate down from full retail...and I would have bought from them...and had service as well...but NO ONE could meet Barlow's price. So the decision to buy from them was mine. I guess I'll have to deal with a little inconvenience here and there.

As promised...here are the pics and the update. The valve fixed my problem. The valve itself is easy to change IF it's easy to get to, and my particular swap couldn't have been easier. Mine was on the top right. The valve bodys on the bottom may be more difficult...

I lowered my BH to a level position behind the tractor...I wasn't sure if the cylinders being up above the valve body would force fluid out or not....so to be safe, I layed the arm down flat behind the tractor.

Take a deep well socket and remove the valve in question. I figured out which one was bad by first tracing the lines to each Left and Right cylinder...then I swapped the lines. Once I knew the cylinder itself worked, the valve appeared to be the problem.

To install the new valve, make sure the "O" rings are clean and have a little fluid on them before installing. That's about it. Don't over tighten!

OH...and that leaking tire I had?? I had it dismounted and found that the rubber around the bead seat was ripped off in one area. Evidently...when it was mounted, they didn't use soapy water??? and the tool dug in to the rubber. I thought there was a new tire on the way...but I haven't seen it yet either. :(

Still waiting on my Westendorf top too...the first one that came with the tractor had a hole in it...back in October. At least it's not hot out!

I asked Steve about this ripped off area of your tire and he said they are made that way on purpose for the mounting bar?

Mounting bar?? Nope. As it appeared to me...the tire bar was used "dry" to mount the tire. I've seen it all too often...the operator doesn't soap up the edge of the tire and the rim, and then the tire tool/bar "rips" or "tears" the rubber form the mating surface. This rubber was just hanging loose and I had to cut it off to help it "seat" to the rim.

I did find out from Brady that Kubota buys the tires already mounted on the rims from the tire manuf....Titan in this case I think. That's why Kubota won't warranty my tire? I have to go thru the tire company to get warranty service. Crazy to me... That's why he said he couldn't just send a tire down because it isn't handled thru Kubota per se.

It gets complicated...

I always hated that with new cars to. They give you the tire/battery warranty info and you know they are going to say the tire/battery was $800 thousand dollars and you used 12% of it so you have to pay about 3 times the price you could go anywhere and buy the tire/battery to get your warranty.
So, are you going to pursue warranty or just tube it and go on with life? That's what I'm going to do with my one bad one I think. Steve told me the tires want to spin on the rim which causes alot of the problem.

Well wouldn't you know it. I got my new 3030, front left tire stayed flat and I figured out the tire lip was "eat up" when it was mounted...probably didn't soap it before mounting.

Now...it's been sitting in my heated basement since delivery...a couple of months I guess. I crank it from time to time, but it's been to cold for me to do much work. But...I pulled it out this week, and drove it around a bit and cycled the hydraulics just to keep everything in "check"....but when I went to work with the backhoe, it would not swing to the left. Everything else works control wise. I've not taken it off since delivery, and it's been in aclimate controlled basement ever since. I can swing the BH all the way to the right, and it trys to go left, but I have to have someone push it back to center while I hold the lever to the "left most" position. No leaks or anything.

Does anyone have a similar problem or maybe some thoughts?

Thanks for the help,
Jeff

I'm with you, I know what you mean about that cold comment, we got down to 32 degrees one day and it made me wonder how any one could work in such a cold environment. Brghhhh, even the dogs water bowl had an 1/8th of ice on it.

It always seems like Murphy's Law applies to me...what are the chances I'd buy a brand new tractor and this happen? Just my luck I guess

Wanna trade some luck? looks like not only am I fixing my still under warranty tractor purchased at a local dealer but I have to pay a 460 dollar diagnostic bill for them to tell me what I told them was wrong. I told them the locker was busted, fix it. They said, the lockers busted and theres metal shavings contaminating the fluids, we wont fix it, that'll be 460 bucks. It could always be worse I guess.

The same thing happened to me on my Jeep Liberty. I told the service dept. exactly what to do and what not to do. "I don't want to rebuild this motor when just a plug wire is bad..." They said they did a $300 injector cleaning and the problem would be fixed after I ran out my tank of gas...and I said WHAT? Please explain? Said my skip was a clogged injector, and they put a bottle of injector cleaner in my tank.....and it went downhill from there. I've never paid $300 for a bottle of injector cleaner that I didn't want...and I didn't want this bottle. I blew a fuse in my "fixin to get upset box", and called them outside to listen to the engine. I made them pull the codes and read to me what they said. Cylinder 1 misfire. I made them pull the plug wire from Cylinder 1 and guess what...no change in idle. The codes said bad coil pack...not dirty injector...BUT they were drawing in all the service dollars they could until they got to the coil pack. It went on even after the coil pack...yes it did.

I'm going around with Hunter Douglas on a 7 sets of blinds that look like they were put together with screws from my screw collection. Hideous...yet I paid to have them custom made because of my windows. They are all supposed to match but you would laugh when you saw how many things were mismatched. The NEW rep will be here tomorrow after a month of calling. I paid for them when I ordered them of course.

I've been waiting on a burner that actually works from Empire fire logs. The first "new" set I got back in October wouldn't work...and neither would the remote. "Awww...you're probably not doing it right...how are you holding your mouth when you light the pilot...probably trash in the line that you've already blown out...we never have any problems with these burners." The remote control killed 8 batteries in 2 days. I finally took it back to the dealer, and told them to keep it last week. Today I picked up my replacement burner and remote and installed it tonight...and they both work great. Not sure why it took me 4 months and countless trips to their store to finally get what I paid for.

One more... We ordered new furniture from Old Hickory. Said it would be here in 6 weeks...so that would be a first week of June delivery. 10 weeks later, no furniture...? My local dealer made up more excuses...and I got suspicious. I called Old Hickory direct and told them of my situation. They had no such order, and never received our sizable deposit from "said" dealer. It's believed that the not-so-local furniture lady dealer (who is actually employed by Old Hickory) used our money to "catch up" on some delinquent bills and got caught! She's not from here...but I am and I know who she rents from ;) Old Hickory massaged the problem area, to try and make it all feel better, and in late Aug. we finally received our furniture but not without issues that are STILL TO THIS DAY being addressed...like cushions that are sewn backwards that don't match.

It's a sign of the times. I hate to say it, but it is. Poor customer service...companies are finding ways to cut costs...and it hurts them in the long run. This happened back in the 70's in the music industry. The advertising was great and made the instrument look like a million bucks...but when you got it a played it you were sick! Cheap, cheap. Price was the same...just the materials were cheap!

I just think we all have to hold all these manufacturer's feet to the fire when it comes to product quality and warranty work. Give me what I paid for and stop making excuses...please.

My dissertation doesn't really apply to my backhoe problem. Things like that happen and I got the part and swapped it and all is good. But... I'm not buying another tire, or paying to ship it all over the place when Kubota sold it to me as "new". Kubota needs to take care of that. To finally answer your question John...I guess I'll have to find a Titan dealer nearby to handle the damaged new tire warranty. If I can't find one somewhere close, I'll turn it back over to Barlows... I'm not going to spend more money on the new tire I've already paid for.

What was that Michael Douglas movie...Falling Down...? Whew...I'm tired now....
