Eric - I looked at the pic of your backhoe again...are you still using the standard bolt teeth on that bucket?

I kept breaking mine so I bought a second bucket and had a second cutting edge welded on to the front (making that edge of the bucket thicker) and then 'frog's welded on to that and then was able to use $8 teeth tap on teeth instead of $40 teeth..... Since I did that I have not replaced a tooth on that bucket - go figure!!

The newer buckets also have weaker back ends to the buckets so you may have to have the pivot pin ears cut off, weld on so 5/16 to 3/8's inch steel over that area and then weld the ears back on.... That's what I did. It made that bucket heavy but indestructible! or you can weld 5/16 to 3//8's inch steel right up on to the ears on the bucket.... Either way should keep the curl force from wrecking your bucket.

Just a thought...

My top restrictor has three color bands showing under the cap. The bottom one restricting the boom lowering has one band. Being a novice BH operator I might have them a little tighter than you would. The plastic block and cable tie is a good idea. I didn't think about it being a potential problem until I was writing the post above.

Thanks for the tips on the bucket. I did see here that people (might have been you) have had problems with them. The dealer put a new bucket on this used BH before I picked it up. It's got a thicker section in the middle of the back. So far it's held together. Our soil is sandy with fairly soft sandstone rocks in it so it might be easier on the bucket than soil with harder rocks in it.

Morning Eric -
Thanks for the settings snapshot. That gives me a place to start - I appreciate it!

It's probably not really a problem but it is for sure cheap insurance.... I like cheap insurance!

My pleasure on the bucket.... We have some loose topsoil in some areas but under it all (for the most part) is compacted clay and gravel and some larger rocks. (Right now I am enlisting a neighbor to help me drag out of the ground a 6000lb rock and move it out of the way of my fence..... Sometimes it seems like I am trying to dig through concrete.....

I am still clearing out 'garbage trees' on our acreage so I end up digging out a lot of stumps. Most are 8 inches or less in diameter but some are 18 inches or better and that means a big deep stump...meaning I am way down in the clay and gravel.... Along with clearing some of these trees, this land was harvested of it's fir trees probably 90 - 100 years ago so I occasionally find holes where the old growth stumps have only partially rotted away - so more digging and leveling.... :)

Anyway Eric, thanks again for the info. I'm sure we'll run across each other again on here.

Hi folks,

I have a Branson with a BH760. I do experience the sensitive movements but I found that I simply positioned my hands towards the base to provide finer control and that seems to work well for me. Over time, it gets better to gain finesse on the controls.

Hi Aquamoose -
I appreciate the tip. I had tried that originally but the issue I found was that when I ramped up the engine speed the sensitivity of the control was even more prevalent. Of course with lower engine speeds I was 'over compensating' because I was used to the higher engine speeds. I was looking for a more consistent implement speed hence my original question on adjusting the flow rate for the boom ram.

I ordered the parts suggested earlier and am waiting for them to show up so I can install them. I'll let you know how it all goes!

Thanks again!!

Hey ericm979 - got all the parts in and on the boom of the backhoe. Everything went together like a charm. Works as advertised.... I'll try and get some pics up here in the near future.

Thanks again!!
