Sorry I can't help, but I would be frustrated. I read the manual on my new BX25D today and here is what it said, and all it said, about changing the bucket:
manual page 90 said:
BChanging the Backhoe Bucket
Changing the backhoe bucket becomes necessary as the
type of job to be accomplished changes. In most backhoe
operations, this is a common occurrence.
By using the following instructions, this job will be quick
and easy. Always select a smooth level area to change
buckets.
Place the bucket to be installed on its bottom, near the
backhoe dipperstick and the bucket to be removed.
Position the bucket to be removed, hydraulically, into this
"NATURAL" position, just touching the ground.

There were no further instructions. The next words were about changing the teeth. LOL.

If it's like my older Kubota backhoe (4560), it's just a case of driving those big pins out. I had to replace the bucket on mine once and it was a pretty simple swap.

Cmalinowski: That is exactly the instructions in my owners manual say. Useless!

I saw the bolts going through the pins on one side and grease zerks in the end of the pin on the other side.

I'm thinking - remove the bolts - and with a block of wood knock the pins out toward the zerks has anyone done this and are there any lips on the pins so they will only go in one direction?

Don, I'm sorry mine is out at the farm where I can't just run out and look at it. I'll be up there this evening and will post back later tonight.

txdon, I live in Kerrville, TX and have a L39 with a BT1000 backhoe. I've changed my bucket (18" and 24") a few times and it's not hard - but not a 5 minute job for me. Some tips: Position BH & bucket like instructions say. Have other bucket right next to it so it will slide into position. I have to remove a retainer bolt(s) that keep the bucket pins in so I have marked those pins so I know they will be lined up to make reinstalling the bolts easy. Remove the retainer bolts. Drive the pins out and don't mess up the ends! Don't mess up the zerk fitting either. While you have the pins out, clean up the grease channel. Slide the bucket out. Reinstalling is reverse order. Hope this helps.

Jim Miller, do I drive the pin out toward the grease zerk side? Thanks for that good hint about marking the pins for the bolt hole lineup.

I get the other bucket next week and want a visual run through before it arrives.

Don, I think what Jim Miller said is the same as what I went through on my BH. As long as nothing is bent or rusty, it shouldn't be a difficult job. Changing to a larger or a smaller bucket?

txdon and Grandad4 - I remove the pins from the NON-zerk side and then re-install them from the zerk side toward the retainer bolt holes. I've only changed my bucket 3 or 4 times so I may be working against myself. The first time I did it was in August around 3pm with the south Texas sun really beating down. I won't do that again. That's when I decided to get my file to mark the pins to show the bolt-hole alignment - before I drove the pin all the way through.
