PT2445; several ag machines and classics
Maybe you guys already discussed this one, but seen one in the dealer lot today: had 3 nearly simultanuous thoughts:

What is that UGLY thing! Sure looks handy. If it comes in half that size my PT isn't so unique anymore! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hi Chad,

Yup, I've seen one up close and kinda shocked the heck out of me. Thought the guy was backing out of a parking spot but when I looked he was actually driving it right toward me and around me to get out on to the road. Could't take my eyes off it as it looked so odd.
Quite the rig.

Take care
Tom

Holy......ring molly....that's one cool tractor. Did'nt think of it when I saw the guy in that link driving backwards...while being positioned forwards....but of course the control console swivels 180 degrees as well as the chair. That's WILD !! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Talk about being able to do two things incredibly quickly at the same time in tractor terms.

Kind of shows you where were headed in the future. We may well be getting to the start of a totally new CLASS of work machine. Think even further to one possible evolution of this machine would be to have other implements already loaded to the tractor in one fashion or another that you would be able to activate at will. Or implements that could actually be dual or triple purpose by mechanically auto-modifying by a flip of a button.........OK....I'm starting to lose it ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not new, been around for some time. Very common around here. I beleive it actually came from the Versatile line. Versatile had one of them and New Holland then continued it under the blue. This is my understanding of it and it is only an understanding. But I do know they have been around for a while and Versatile did have one.

This add calls out the Versatile but actually is the Ford label. Again memory but I think Ford did buy out Versatile before they were bought out by New Holland.

Versatile 256

And check out the prices for them. They carry a hefty price

Spiffy,

My wife is from North Dakota, you know close to Canada where the Versatile was made. There is a lot of them Bi-directional out there too. You being from South Dakota I would think you would have seen them out there being fairly close to Canada?

Thanks for the link Murph!

The Versatile line is nothing unusual around here, but for some reason I had never seen one with the "rear mount" loader until today.

Except for a little streamlining it doesn't look like their "new" [per NH website] creature has radical changes from the 1989 model you found! I'm guessing the "bells and whistles" in the 2005 cab are bit fancier though.

Curiosity got me, looks like Versatile released the style in 1977, and NH revamped it in 1998. Must be the that section of their website NH is claiming as new, rather than the tractor itself.

Versatile

I wonder what that sold for new in 1989; sounds like pretty good resale for $27,500 with 4K hours, even for a 100hp machine.

I still seriously believe this is a step in another direction that will relegate the tractor (in the future) to it's base tasks i.e. agricultural.

That's incredible that link you had showing an old Ford ? with that versatility. Obviously a concept that was either not appreciated at the time or not universally accepted. I sure have not ever seen one.

Once big industry (non-agri) goes in this direction with gains made in manufacturing to economically produce in quantity, what will eventually migrate down to average consumers will no longer be called a tractor but a........?????.......ZiTor !! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I knew I remembered the Ford version. Wasn't the Ford called a Versatrac? I remember a camp ground had one. At the time of year I was there (late Nov., early Dec. a few years ago), they were using it for hay rides. I vaguely remember the model name. I know it was Ford, though. I always thought it was cool.
