Big Bee Rotary Cutters:Anyone know about them?

Hello Ken,
I've herd the hoopla about Hawkline and how they would be producing cutters by April but I've yet to see only pictures and none on any dealers lots. I do see the Midwest, Pyramid, & Kodiak cutters on many dealers lots. KODIAK 10' CUTTER

Hi Mark-You are about right about Hawkline, I think the product may be fine? They just need to get the pricing down a little. This usually helps a new kid on the block get a market share before all the enthusium fades--I talked to Jimmy at Big Bee (DHE) Friday and he metioned that they sell Gearboxes and Crossmembers to Kodiac. Why would they rely on a competitor for such major components? Are they owned or a sister of Big Bee (DHE)?--Ken Sweet

Hello Ken,
MFG's from time to time purchase components from each other due to delivery schedules. They both use Eurocardan PTO's and the same tail wheels on their cheap cutters. Most of Kodiak's other components are purchased direct from Omni Gear, ITG and other MFG's. Harpe purchases some Chinese PTO's and Gear boxes on the open market that are used in the Low Low end cutters but Kodiak does not make that lighter stuff. Next month Harpe might need to purchase gear boxes from J-Bar because of shipment arrival issues. John Deere purchases Delco AC compressors from GM and their is a world of difference in a Corvette and a JD tractor. Harpe and Kodiak are not sister companies. Their products may have the same use but have designs.
