Big lawn rollers

I have seen 30-60 horse tractors pulling lawn rollers that are at lease 6 ft wide with a bunch of tractor weights mounted to them as well. Are all these custom made or are they on the market?

Could it be a cultipacker that they were pulling? Sweet farm equipment has used ones.

No, this had a smooth drum. I wouldn't think a cultipacker would be good to smooth a yard.

I used to have a handmade one. I used a round metal tube approximately 18" tall and 1/8" thick, sealed at both ends with metal, and a steel rod threw the center. The roller also had a brass cap on one end so that I could fill it with water for added weight. I left it out by mistake during the winter months while it was still filled with water and when I checked it come spring time the thing split open. Damaged so bad I took it to the landfill. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I've been thinking of making a similar one again but taller, perhaps 30" with the same cap idea to add water. Then I was thinking of buying a concrete culvert, standing it up on its side, and adding some concrete mix one bag at a time. The problem with the concrete culvert is that it would weigh a ton (pardon the pun) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif all the time. I still might go back to the metal roller first. Got to check the steel supply areas and cost.

I built a couple of rollers, one 36" dia x 6', filled with concrete.
The water barrel on top is for when I want to roll some asphalt.

the small one comes in handy for special applications. Is mounted to the fel so you can lift it up or lift the front of the tractor and move with just the roller & tractor rear wheels on the ground.

It is 16" dia filled with concrete.

Also made double row sod digging attachment to go on this roller.
