Big Plow

Here is a shot of my neighbor plowing my driveway with a CAT loader with a special plow. The plow looks like a backward box scraper despite the fact that it is much larger.

These plows are becoming quite prevalent around Upstate NY near the snow belt and are intimidating when you get near them.

Currently our snow is near gone and I am looking forward to spring!

I imagine should you hit a solid object that is sticking slightly above the driveway surface; (manhole cover, meter cover, etc.) you either severely damage the item or the driver gets thrown about in the cab. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Those aren't plows.... they call those "snow pushers". The difference is that it will just gather up the snow and push it into one area, unlike a plow that can keep pushing the snow and it will roll off of one end. They are used a lot in parking lots where they need to get the snow off the ground in a hurry and in air fields also.

I'll try this again. The pic I posted this morning looked like a giant smudge when I viewed it. My pc also won't save edited pic files where I tell it to, makes posting pics very frustrating.
Although it's not CUT related it is still a big plow on a big truck. Unfortunatly I don't remember all the specs. This was a truck we built where I work. It's for a local small air port. Blade is 22' wide and 48~54" high.

It also has an under body scraper 9' wide. This truck was a lot of fun to build, the biggest thing I ever worked on. I even got to put it in service, I was shop foreman at the time.

Now thats a big plow. My company has a nice CAT at the office with a snow pusher on it. I will have to get a pic before they take it away.

There is a rubber scrapper on the bottom that contacts the ground. If it hits anything solid the rubber will give way and pop back after it is pass. Only time you have to worry is if you run it into a tree stump which is unlikely as these are mostly used for airports and keeping large parking lots open.
