Came across this and thought I'd share /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
They say it does an acre per minute.

I've seen that picture before and I bet it would be fun to run for a day or two. Of course at an acre a minute running at an acre a minute you'd run out of ground around here before you'd run out of daylight. LOL An 80' cultivator, that would be a nice item to see at work at 8 mph. Thanks for the link, I sent it to a few of my farming buddies. Maybe we'll get together and buy it and have all our work done by noon next year on the first day and drink beer the rest of the day.

What is interesting with the 747 is that it was the only one built that big by Big Bud. The tires are special made and are finally in need of replacement. However, the Williams brothers are having fun trying to get replacements as these 8 tires are the only ones in existance that size. They are going to have to get some company to build them new tires for this machine which might cost a couple dollars.

As for the 80' field cultivator, when they are running it the shanks turn red hot. If I recall correctly they have to replace the shanks every few days as they wear out so fast.

Last, if anyone wants to see this tractor and go for a ride the Williams brothers are more then happy to show people the tractor and if they are working with it will let the people take a ride with them.

Could you imagine if he broke the "golden rule", and drove through cat tails and got stuck?! I'd always been told "don't drive where there are cat tails". I tried it once with a 4X4 tractor with 22 degree ag tires on it, figuring that I'd make it. Not! I wonder how they would get Big Bud out!?? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The Williams have a couple other big 4wd's so they could most likely tug it out if it got stuck but I don't think it would get stuck very easily. The worse thing they might have to do to get it unstuck would be dig out around it with a excavator.

Also, Big Bud is the company that made this model tractor(not a pet name). They made a lot of different models but the 16v-747 was the largest they ever made.

Yeah it can till an acre a minute, but does it have a drink holder? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nice tractor. That's big (and powerful) even by modern standards. I doubt it's as comfy as the new ones though /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Why do the cultivator shanks get so hot? What speed are they running at? I've pulled a disc ripper at 7-8 mph before and never had a problem.

I can't remember their explanation but I will check it out again and find out the facts about why they get so hot.

Too bad it's got a 16V detroit in it. All that engine is, is an expensive way to burn diesel fuel. Actually, in it's day, the "double breasted Yamaha" was a good engine. Now days, it's a boat anchor.
