That's the twin blower, twin turbo V-16 Detroit isn't it?

I worked for a well driller a long time ago and he had one of those to run a big compressor. She was a screamer.

Hi,

I would still take the Detroit over the " ***-APART ", OOOPS I mean Cummins any day!! Who cares how much oil it uses, I dont!! Interesting fact, the whole engine/tranny is built on a metal skid, flip back the cab, and flip the hood forward, and out it all comes.

I would love to take a ride on that Beast.

May have to send them a friendly email too find out..........
Take care

Will

When Big Bud & Steiger & Versitle the other start-up 4wd companies were just beginning, other machine shops were throwing together versions of 4wd tractors as well - off the shelf axles & engines & mount up some rims & a hinge system for steering & put a big hitch on the back...

I was in one of the no-name ones some farmers/ welders put together over winter - it had a mini fridge in it, and a couch was bolted in the back of the cab for family & friends to ride along. The cab was about the size of most kitchens....

Was it Versitile that experimented with the 6 wheel drive (3 axles) for a while, but never could get even tractoin to the ground so gave up? That had potenial to be a bigger tractor, but did not have a bigger engine than the 747 when they gave up on the design...

No dought... thats a lot of money but I actually figured it'd be more than that. Of course that was back in '78!
