HI, here I am after 4 hours of FEL work to remove all that ice and snow: no problem whatsoever with the tractor (the bouncing is still there but did not use 4WD on paved road so much). I tried the maneuvers suggested by RBARGEON and ART but nothing seems wrong. I spoke with a dealer and he said basically what RDSAUSTINTX said: bouncing back and forth can be normal when in 4WD and steering all the way. Thank you all for your interest and time in my case.

Not sure I'd settle with that explanation. If that was the case you'd have noticed it long before now. My L4400 does not bind or buck at full lock on dirt or pavement when in 4wd. Admittedly I have not tried going round in circles on pavement with 4wd engaged but it has never happened when I've inadvertantly left it in 4wd and made normal turns on pavement.

Binding while turning in 4wd would be noticeable but you've described this vibration as 'big' and 'major'. I'd continue to look for another explanation.

N80, probably there can be another explanation, but I do not know what to do. It would be interesting if someone with a similar tractor (L3830) could do a tight U turn in 4WD on a paved road and let us know the results. I do not think that anything major could happen to the machine. But I know that 4wd on paved road is not good. Thanks.

The front ends in these Kubotas are very similar. I'll certainly give it a try when I use my tractor this weekend.

Again, it is very possible to get some binding making tight turns in 4wd on pavement. I just wouldn't describe it as major vibration. But I'll give it a whirl and let you know if mine makes a ruckus. But I'm pretty sure it won't. Its just been my experience that these bevel gear, open diff 4wd systems just don't bind much.

Sevilla, just to recap, you say when in 4WD, at low speed, on pavement and turning sharply your tractor bounces or hops kind of? And there's no mechanical noises of visual signs of rubbing etc?
I hate to state the obvious but it simply sounds like your tractor is doing the 4WD hop. Have you ever owned a 4WD (not all wheel drive) truck before? Do you remember what happens when a 4WD vehicle turns sharply at slow speeds on pavement? The vehicle will stutter/hop/bounce. It's simply the nature of the 4WD beast. Doesn't sound like anything to worry about to me.

Well, like I've mentioned, I won't say that this isn't what he's feeling, but from how he describes it, it just seems more excessive than that. I've never owned a 2wd vehicle in my life and have experience with everything from the original IH Scout to my current F150. And degree of binding varies from vehicle to vehicle. The Scout was terrible, the '76 Jeep Cherokee was terrible, the S-10 Blazer and all three of my Nissans had very little binding. You might hear a little scuff and feel some resistance in the steering wheel, but not much. My F-150 is probably the worst of them all in regard to binding, even in the dirt. So I know what binding feels like, and I've never noticed it at all on my Kubota. Of course, as I said, I've not torture tested it on pavement, but for the sake of 'science', I'll do it tomorrow.

Sevilla, if you only notice this on pavement and never on dirt, then these folks are probably right and you (all of us) just need to avoid using 4wd on pavement. I'll get back to you on Sunday regarding my test.

Those older cars used a U joint and would bind more. The newer ones use a CV joint. The major binding felt is due to one wheel going faster than the other. My 99 SD still has the U joint, It'll bind on a hard surface.

If you have R4 tires on the rig, check to be sure the edge of the tire is not hitting the loader tower when fully turned.

If so, trim the small amount with a grinder or torch.

My drive way is sand, well packed and the only pavement is the road. I have forgetfully done U turns at the end of the drive way in 4wd when doing maintenance. I am instantly aware what I have done from the drag but have not experienced any vibration or hopping.

I have R4s.

Thank you for the feedback: In these days I checked everything it was recommended in this thread but I found nothing wrong. I tried again a Uturn in 4wd on paved road and the bouncing is still there. A good description is: "buck like a bronco" but I keep the gas steady. No bouncing on dirt road. Any other suggestion is still appreciated!
