Bigger hitch capacity or weight distributing hitch?

Sure is a funny way to carry your spare tire!

Did you have much luck finding a 10k stinger? Was it particularly expensive?

The tire is well supported by a piece of vertical channel. It was laying down till I got the box, now it is a space saver.

The drawbar is forged solid steel, another draw-tite product. Don't remember the price.

Looking at the way your truck is squatting and the fact that your tongue jack hangs so low, you should be using a WD hitch. I bet every bump sends that rear end bouncing 3-4".

Unfortunetly my F250 sits with level bed with NO load. My next truck will be a F350 SRW, which sits higher. I do have factory overloads. With load you see, I am not on overloads, but I can see evidence of them in use after I travel over rail road tracks, etc, that what they are for. Like I said, I have been doing this for over 6 years with absolutely NO issues, and no need for WD hitch. Philip.

Those appear to be 5200# axles on the trailer. And looking at how the truck is squatting, surely there is something loaded in the bed too...

It just does not look like there should be much tongue weight with the light trailer, and relatively light tractor.

Trailer is 10K with two 6K axles. Philip.

I would guess Phillip8n is pulling a 16' + 2'DT trailer. And the tractor could be 4-5k lbs with the loader and implements (depending on if the rears are loaded or not). So he's pulling similar to me at 7-8k lbs. It does seem to be sitting low....Got lead in that tongue tool box?

I need to measure my heights before and after hook up....

Yes, it is a 16' + 2'. The tailer and equipment in pic is +/- 8K. Rears not loaded. I do carry tools, jack, air compressor, etc in tool box, but no lead! Tongue weight is heavy. I have not had this combo to the scales yet, but I imagine tounge weight around 1000 pounds. Philip.

One thing I have learned is every F-250 and every F-350 and other Ford Trucks for that matter are not created equal. Ford has something like 8 GVWR packages for that year F-250 alone. You can have one with 8,800# GVWR and one right next to it that is identical looking with 10,000# GVWR.

What I am saying is do your homework. I ordered both my 04 F-250 with 10,000# GVWR and my 06 F-350 SRW with 11,500# GVWR for maximum payload and the ability to take a lot of tongue weight.

True dat! There are a million suspension packages. The weird thing is that the most common question asked on Ford Truck Entusiasts is "what is the difference betweeen the 250 and 350?" Some knowledgable people looked into it and the result is that there really is only one difference: The 250s have a 2" riser block under the rear springs and the 350s have a 4" block (and longer u-bolts to reach). That's it. You can get the same springs in both packages but they are rated differently based on the riser. I assume the taller riser allows the springs to deflect a bit more fully, or maybe it is just that it raises the bed height so the same load is sitting higher. Dunno.

So if you want to convert your 250 into a 350, you can do it for a couple hundred bucks by changing out the risers. Mind you this doesn't change the door sticker so Johnny Q Law won't care about your internet learnings if he's in "a mood"....

Well, one more difference: the badge says 350, not 250...

"So if you want to convert your 250 into a 350, you can do it for a couple hundred bucks by changing out the risers. "

But then, if you get the snowplow package like I did, it raises the front end up so it matches the rear end (F350) and you're back to level again....

Thats part of the problem I have. The slide in camper certification increased the front spring rate and raised the front. My truck has level bed with no load in it. Philip.

Interesting. That is the first time I have ever seen a 6 lug hub rated for 6,000#. Every 6 lug hub I have ever been around was rated for 5400#, and the 6,000# bumped to 8 lug.

Seems I learn something new every time I log into TBN.

In the trailer world 6 lug hubs are what are on 99.9% of all 5.2K and 6.0K axles. You do not go to 8 lug until you jump up to 7.0K axles.
