What's the biggest flail mower that I could use on a GC2300/GC2310?

Has anyone here run a 5' flail mower on one?

Did you mean a drum type flail mower? If so. I would not run something like that on the GC's becouse you need to start a drum flail mower slowly. When you turn the PTO on a GC it come on NOW-------BAM!!!!!!! You will do damage to the tractor using a drum type flail mower.
I would use a mid mount mower "MMM" 54" or 60" or a 52-60 rear discharge finish mower

Yes. I have a lot of rocks and small ant hills and other things hidden in the grass around my place.

How does the shock of starting a flail mower differ from the shock of starting a rototiller?

Heck, I try to not start my MMFM at any rpm over 1500 on the GC2300 and it's a pretty violent start up and once and while it will even stall.
