Billy Beer

I can recall Billy Beer, by the time it reached the west coast, tasted like beaver piss. but the age of local brews were going to the national ones. Olympia had bought Hams, and Lone Star, then sold to Miller. Now only the good and bad ones are from all the micro brews we have around. I recall buying "damaged" cases out of the Lucky brew house for 2 bucks a case, and it might have 20 different labels on them. Great for taking out on the boat for a day of fishing.

Still can't get over the closing of the Olympia brewery in Tumwater... put all those Artesians out of work...

Seriously... it was a tremendous blow for the community...

The Falls restaurant directly across from the brewery still has Olympia beer on the menu...

I remember Billy Beer....I was in a Convenience Store and they had just gotten it in stock so I bought a 6 pack...they put the cold 6 pack of Billy Beer in a Paper Sack for me and I had to stop and pick up my truck at the Mechanics on my way home and drop of the car I was driving to get it serviced...These guys were friends of mine so when I went into the office I had the sack with me and one of the fellas said is that beer you have in the sack and I said yes, I just bought it..and they said ..great let's have some beer...So I handed them the sack...I had bought it thinking it would be worth something someday...They drank it all....LOL....So now I feel better after reading the posts here ..that my Billy Beer would have never been that valuable...

Man, that stuff was nasty in the 70's I can't imagine what it taste like now. I kept a six pack of that, and one of JR Ewing beer. I believe they were both brewed by Pearl beer.

That beer had to be nasty. Beer is not wine ... it does not age well.:)

Agree !! I tried some of that swill back when it first came out, it was swill then and will always be swill.

I bought a six-pack when it came out in the 70's......took a slug and dumped the rest.....

Years later I chucked the remaining 5 cans in the garboonski......

Wished I would've saved it just for the yuk factor.....

I'm with you guys on this one:thumbsup:
