Biodiesel

I just bought my first Kioti this weekend. Can't wait until it is delivered on Monday. I was wondering if anyone is using Biodiesel in thier tractors?

The dealer that I bought the tractor from said that Kioti endorses B10 but the highest numbers I have found on line so far is B5. Howerver I have found several people that are using it with no problems. My supplier makes very good fuel. I have been using it in a VW for alittle over a year know with no problems.

I use it in the truck wherever and whenever I can get it, as long as it isn't WAY more expensive than ULSD, i.e. I won't cross the street for it to pay another 20c a gallon if I'm getting a 50 gallon fill-up.
It works well, seems to run a little better.

I can't see why Kioti would have an issue - unless there are subsidies/kick backs of some sort from oil companies for their disapproval ?

Kioti would have an issue if they hadn't designed their fuel systems to be compatible. Also, why should they approve of it? They take a risk with little or no reward by endorsing an alternative fuel.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I want to know if it is ok to use ULSD in tractors that have been made prior to 2007. I've talked to a few people about ULSD who manage a City Fleet of trucks and I have been advised that they are now using 10% bio diesel and using a fuel additive from Stanadyne with ULSD to help with lubrication.

I don't see any object to Biodiesel especially if it cost more.

If you use ULSD you should also use an additive, when they took all the sulphur out that took out the lubricating value as well.. You don't need an additive with bio it has much better lubricating value than ULSD. Keep in mind if there is anything in your fuel system algae or what ever the bio will loosen all that stuff up might want to have a spare fuel filter on hand.

There is a gas station about 70 miles from me that makes it's own biodiesel on Rt220 near Martinsville, VA. My truck likes the stuff, but there seems to be a great variation between the quality of biodiesel. You never know who is making it or what additives that are being used. I wish biodeisel was more readily available in my area. The City shop where I work uses it, but it is through a commercial contract and it is not available anywhere else near me.

All the people who are supposed to know what they are talking about claim the the ULSD does not lack lubrication, no additives are needed, and that it is entirely compatible with older engines. The new engines that require ULSD (such as new trucks with DPFs) must be run on ULSD. Myself, I use an additive in my tractor but not in my 7.3 powerstroke which was made to run on pre ULSD diesel.

I hate to do it, but I would like to send the ULSD questions to the fuel/lube forum on this site which is full of people that love this stuff.
