BIRDS, BIRDS GO AWAY!!

Birds don't like to sleep where they can be seen. They don't like to sleep in a lighted area even under cover. If the spots they roost in are lighted, it should work. Try it and let us know!!

Bad idea, they may loose patience and kill something, like the healthy person maybe.

Save your money on the plastis owls, they don't work. I've been considering trying a product in my barn that I saw in the Gempler's catalog. They have a product called "bird goo". It's cheap and comes in a caulking tube. It's for putting on flat out-of-the way surfaces where they roost. Sounds like it would be ideal for rafters and other such locations. Kind of a very sticky putty that sticks their feet to the glue. Apparently this stuff never dries and bird hate having their feet glued to a board. Now, if someone would just tell me how to keep the x#^#x starlings from stripping all of the fruit from my apples trees.....

An effective pigeon solution (don't know if works for other types of birds) is to place bird feed mixed with plaster of paris out for them. After eating pigeons seek water, the plaster sets up killing them. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I hope PETA or the Ladies Auxillery Birdwatchers Club doesn't read this! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Anyway this doesn't prevent new nesting but does cut down greatly on birds returning to the existing nests.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE SUGGESTIONS! I aquired a spayed female cat on Tuesday and she seems to like living on the deck so far. And, most importantly, I have no birds living on my deck at the present time We feed the cat back there and she lays in this chair a while and moves to another a while /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. PERFECT! I have noticed a couple of birds in the late afternoon with their landing gears down and when they see the cat /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif they change course fast. Personally I think the cat is so lazy they could land on her head and she wouldn't mind, but SO FAR THEY DON'T KNOW THAT. Thanks again for all of the replies - Maybe I can help ya'll out one day. T-Bone,

A good and doubly humane solution. I hope the cat becomes a beloved member of your family.

Terrific! You got you a permanent cat urine dispenser. Now that's using your head! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Pittbull,

That's kind of like feeding alkaseltzer to the seagulls. (Illegal here). People were going to the beach and throwing alkaseltzer up into the air. Apparently, the gulls would catch and glup on the fly. Seagulls can't burp.
