Where were you when they were talking about Bird houses? That was the first thing that occurred to me. Why would anyone be talking about Bird's house/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Great post.

Sure wish I had those cherries./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Of course I have the same problem with the mockingbirds and bluejays eating my plums. I've tried tying a bunch of aluminum pie pans in the trees; some folks say that works, but I couldn't tell it helped any so I quit doing it.

I am not sure about the cherry growers , but here in MA the Blue berry growers use what is called a poper , it is a gas powered cannon , that operates on a timer and sounds very much like a shotgun , it is used some times for corn if the birds are real bad ....

We have a commercial pecan orchard (about 8,000 trees I was told) about 10 miles from here that uses several of those LPG powered cannons to try to keep the crows out; moderately successful he says.

The "poper" sounds like it would work good! That's a new idea I hadn't heard of. I'll have to consider the neighbors though, so I need to find one that's not too loud. Although, if I could point it towards the neighbors with the dog that barks a lot ...
