Birds eating dog food

We get that too. Not only dry dog food, but dry cat food, my wife has outside cats...

Mostly blackbirds it seems.

Everything has to eat I guess. I just don't like the 'deposits' they leave everywhere.... Don't birds have designated restrooms??

See message #13, my dogs stay fit and trim pretty much on their own. Sometimes in the summer I reduce the amount of food they get if I notice them gaining. They require a lot less calories in the summer @90 deg. F than they do in the winter @10 deg. F.

I have a grey fox (considered canine)...that gets in our bird feeders and eats the bird seed...!

An uncle had a tame crow and the family dog that both shared canned dog food.
The crow had been successfully fed canned food as they likened it to what the mother crow fed the young.

The end result was crow and dog were best friends with crow often seen riding on the dogs back.
The crow also barked and acted as a watch dog greeting visitors with 'woof 'woof' as it flew over your head when you came visiting.

Came home the other evening and noticed wife had put bowl of dog food in bed of Kubota rtv. I didn't think she could put one of our dogs up there so asked about it. It was for the birds.

My cats and American magpie I think its called sits side by side and eat from the same bowl, I think they have a deal on not to bother each other and be friends

A while ago I fed the dog outside. I had one of those gravity feeders that held about a weeks supply. Then I noticed that I was going thru a lot of food. I watched, the magpies were eating a little. But at night, here comes the entire raccoon clan. Mama would just give the feeder a big swat, tip it over and the family was dining in style. I feed the dog inside now.

This thread had me worried. I knew Bird had an operation and thought with the cost of medical bills these days..... Glad it's about the feathered kind. :laughing: Ed
