Hey Ken,
I would be interested in what these people have to say about Red Angus. Leachman

I am not baiting you..

"The English breeding is NOT what we have here that was originally registered."

"The first great herds of Angus beef cattle in America were built up by purchasing stock directly from Scotland. Twelve hundred cattle alone were imported, mostly to the Midwest, in a period of explosive growth between 1878 and 1883 ."

and Scotland registers Black & Red Angus together.

"The red angus born from the black angus herd is genetically the same except the red recessive gene became dominant for the calf born."

This will happen in a DNA tested, registered herd of black angus no matter what you think... they still carry the recessive red gene.. red hides will still be born from them.

I've shown you the facts.. it's up to you to intiligently digest them.. when a red hide calve is born to your purebred angus herd.. maybe you'll see the light.

Yup, that is the one Kobe Beef. Thx for helping me remember. Personally I don't see the value. I'll take a Black Angus at 12 the price before a Kobe. I mean it is good steak but nothing extraordinary.

Leachman is an excellent breeder. You can rest assured that their genetics are exactly what they say they are. They DNA everything. You will get the same answer I've been trying to tell you. Try telling him that genetics are genetics without the DNA proof to back up what you say.

Ken,

What are you trying to say? I guess I don't understand. Are you trying to say that you can get a red angus out of purebred angus cattle? YES you can. I am not saying that you can't get red angus from purebred angus but it is very rare these days as the recessive gene for red has been bred out to a large degree. Red Angus cannot be registered in regular angus associations and mostly in a purebred operation they are culled and sold without being registered. In a purebred black angus operation if you have a cow or bull that produces red they will not be in that program for long and will be culled.

I'm not saying this demeaning at all Ken but do you understand what purebred registered genetics is?
