Did some more research on the s/n break for parts differences. It had to do with how the metal hydraulic lines attach to the boom, and some difference with the loader support. Early booms used bent over welded tabs to hold the lines while later ones used a clip and nut. I can't tell what the difference is with the supports, but since the serial break applied to 60, 70, and 70A loaders it doesn't seem like that is the key to the kink difference.
In looking at my old printed parts catalog, I see the difference in serial numbers between 70 and 70A. Other than the first year 1988, 70 loaders for the 855 had 70B in the s/n while 70A loaders had 70AX . However, the surprise here is all the overlapping years of 70 and 70A production. So obviously there is much more to this than I thought. Maybe I should just step aside from all this trivia, but I am curious what letters are in your s/n. 70B or 70AX ?
