I have a 25 hp ride-on with a 3 blade deck. Does it matter if the blades are lined up when put back on mower unit?

I put blades back on: outside left, 12 and 6 o'clock, middle blade 9 and 3 o'clock, outside right blade 12 and 6 o'clock position.

When powered up deck seems to vibrate more.

regards,

lloyd

Doesn't matter which way they are lined up, IMO. The belt driving the three blades will slip, and the 'line-up' won't stay the way you put it, so no need to bother.

If vibrating, I'd be sure the individual blades are not caked up with dried juice, and that they are balanced end-for-end after sharpening. Beyond that, I'd check for bad bearings in the spindles, or worn belt. Could be a number of things. Probably need to work your way back through each one to track the problem down.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think about the belts slipping and blades self-aligning....

If I take the blades off...does it matter if the balance test is vertically like on an air plane - (thinking of putting finish nail in side of bench and placing blade on it vertically at center point) or should they be balanced horizontally like on the deck?

many thanks again...
