Yeah and it took me a long time to learn that before I could be persuaded to buy my CC GT2554.
Especially since the cheapo M T D Wards powr craft lawn tractor left a real bad tast in my mouth for any thing built by MTD.
The Wards MTD taught me to dislike B & S also.:)

Funny you should mention B&S, or BS engines, when I was a kid, we cut grass for 2-3 bucks a yard, could not blow up those old engines. I got this 2 acres about 7 yrs ago, bought a Murray, 17.5 Briggs, sucked a valve at 4 yrs, I did meticulous maintenance on it, it gave me no warning. Bought another Murry at HD, the first one was Hydro, I really liked it until the engine blew. Had to get a cheap one, didn't have the money for a CC. I know these new CC's aren't like the old ones, but I still think they're a good machine. Time will tell. Anyway, on the second Murray I was getting shy, and decided to spring for my Cub. OMG, I enjoy doing the yard now, but again, it's not fair to compare the two. Seems Murray got into Briggs for something like $17 mil., and Murray got into trouble. Imagine that. And my Cub dealer gave me $400 for my 3 yr. old Murray, and they're right, buy from a reputable dealer, operative word here is reputable. CYA Thanks LB;)

I haven't met a B & S Engine yet that I ever liked. Pure junk in my book! Love my Cub!!!! I am about 80 miles from Cleveland!

I own a 2005 lt1046. I'm thinking of selling the unit for a 2500 shaft driven model. Purpose for new unit would be mowing and light leveling of loose dirt for leveling of the yard with the optional blade for these units. Can anyone tell me if they have had experience with the 2500 series and blade for light duty dirt leveling and other tasks such as the hydraulic tiller. Also can anyone tell me if the hood melting on the 2500 series has been resolved and also how far back in models does this problem go.
Did you make the swap or back out?
