BLADE TIMING

Re: BL;ADE TIMING

HOW DO I TIME MY MOWER BLADES?

It is not necessary to Time or synchronize blades except on those mowers with a cogged belt or pulleys with splines, such as the older Troybuilt 32 in mowers.

A regular belt will slip some under high torque, or if you hit something.

Years ago I had a deck that was gear driven, It was powered by a belt from the engine, but the blades were gear driven.

Re: BL;ADE TIMING

I try to place mine (3 blades) so the blades are: 1) north to south, 2) east to west, and 3) north to south)

BUT since I MMM is belt driven when you start/stop the pulleys will shift.. So they dont end up being in the same positions as when i started..

Not so much the start stop as it is pulley and load variances multiplied by many revolutions per second. Without teeth on the pulleys and belt the "timing" will wander quite quickly. Yould have to "time" them every couple minutes. Best to not fret and just let it do its thing.

Hello & WELCOME to TractorByNet.com! :)

I have moved your thread to the Parts/Repairs Forum. You'll get a better response there. ;)

Have an Ariens Zero Turn, think it is a 42" deck with a cogged belt. Usually there will be a cover over the belt, remove cover and find the arrow marks on pulley to the marks on the deck and starting from idler thread all the way aroung keeping them in their postions. The tensioner needs to be then tensioned to proper tension. You may need to track down the manual for the mower.
