I recently bought a Ford 2600 with several attachments. The brush hog is older and I'm not able to identify the make/model. I sharpened the mower blades, but later realized the blade tips were laying back, rather than engaging with the grass. Any advice as to how to fix this?

The brush mowers I have worked around rotate counterclockwise and viewed from the top of the deck. Little lawn mowers (21") rotate clockwise. Are you saying someone put the blades on backwards? Remove blades and install properly seems like it might be the answer. You can find owners manuals at Bushhog. The concepts of brush cutters do not vary between manufacturers. http://www.bushhog.com/uploads/documents/BHRazorbackBH4-5-6OM-14.pdf

On some models it's easy to put them on upside down. Don't even need to pay attention to direction of rotation. Just look at the angle of the sharpened edge. the cutting edge should be on the bottom of the blade, not the top as it would be if they are on upside down. Neighbor did that with his JD lawn mower several years ago. Brought it down for me to look at. He was very embarrassed when we discovered they were upside down. :)

Only other thing that will cause "lazy" swinging blades it running the PTO too slow. The cut quality difference is obvious with only a couple hundred RPM difference.

Let us know what you discover.

Lastly, pictures say a thousand words. :)
