I have read a few posts about bleeding the hydraulics but have not actually found the one about how to do it. I have a New Holland TN 75 and the lift arms will not move. Tried to move a wagon that was to heavy for the tractor and it reared up. From what I have read it may be possible that air has gotten into the system. Can someone tell me how to bleed the hydraulics?

Just cycle through full extends and retracts operations about 5 times.

All tractor hydraulic systems will self bleed with just a few cycles of the cylinders. At 8-15 gallons per minute of oil circulation depending on the tractor model, it doesn't take long to put oil back into all the lines. If after cycling each cylinder a few times and you still have problems, it isn't air in the line and you need to look for some other problem.

Do you have hyd flow anywhere.

You may have popped the piston off the rod shaft.

You could remove the work port hose and see if you have work port flow.

Is 3pt working?

I would suggest to install a hyd pressure gage in the hyd system and see if the pump is still working correctly.

If you continue to have air in the system, check for a suction leak.

The 3pt is not working. Going to the farm now to check a few things. Thanks for the replies.

**** J_J I was wondering if you've heard of akcela high tran hyd /tran oil? it would appear you are the guy to ask when it comes to hyds. I used jd 303 in the tractor ( 1961 jd 2010 gas ) but when I went to the same farm supply store ( not tsc ) they told me they had changed suppliers to the akcela brand. can you give me your opinion on the akcela if your familiar with it? this is my 1st tractor ( I've already heard I made a mistake by getting the 2010 , but too late now. thanks. Garrey

Same thing happened to my TN55 12 years ago when the box scraper popped up to far and linkage came apart in side the tractor. Was covered by warranty but I still watch to make sure the 3pt doesn't pop up to high.

Sorry, but only know the specific brands for my hyd equipment.

If you look at the label, it should tell you the crossover to other brands.

akcela high tran hyd /tran oil should fine for a JD 2010 as that model has no wet clutches/brakes similar to later JD moddels

hello Tx Jim, so then you've actually heard of the akcela brand? I did call up the specs on it and for the most part it is superior to jd 303. I read on one of the other posts that jd 303 is actually made by shell. by the way jim, you were right, the filter was full of xxxxx. I would never have thought that a dirty filter would actually shut down the hyds on a tractor. I cleaned the filter like you said and replaced the oil with the akcela product, and all hyds are up and running. thanks.

All is well with the tractor again. Had read a thread about bleeding the hydraulics by loosening the nut on the filter housing. Got the air out and the 3pt works again. It was a beautiful sight. Thanks for all the replies.
