It had rained on and off all weekend, then around 4pm a new front came in, the temp dropped from 39 to 29 and it snowed quite hard for a couple hours.
The "Golden Snowglobe" is awarded to the Nation's snowiest city over 100,000 population. Syracuse has inched past Worcester MA for snowiest city over 100,000, and Lowell, MA is #3 with 113.6" before yesterday's storm. Boston was 0.7" behind Buffalo, but NOAA reports Buffalo at 103" so not sure where that was recorded. Erie, PA had 104" for 6th place.
NOAA totals through Sunday 3/15 midnight.
Caribou, ME 123.9
Worcester, MA 115.6
Boston 108.6
Portland, ME 91.3
Concord, NH 88.7
Burlington, VT 80.2
Hartford, CT 59.3
What strikes me as remarkable is that Boston and Hartford are so different especially since Worcester got more than Boston. Hartford is about 60 miles southwest of Worcester with Boston about 50 miles east of Worcester. Weird.
