Yep, on the emergency supplies thing. On 9/11, I almost rear-ended a car stopped for no apparent reason on the main drag. Turned out, he was the end of a long line of cars waiting to top off their gas tanks...
I lived on a lake about 7 miles from Warsaw, IN during the blizzard. It wasn't apparent if the roads had been cleared into town yet but supplies were getting low. Some of us piled in the van to give it a try. Neighbors gave us money to pick up stuff they needed. We made it back with mostly beer and cigarettes, maybe a gallon of milk or two.
