Where in Ontario? Backing out of the driveway this morning at 5am, my car dragged through the snow, but it didn't seem that heavy. It's warmed up a little now, but the snow hasn't let up at all. I imagine there will be at least twice as much on the ground by the time I get home. My first snowblowing experience this year (and ever) didn't go well this week, I kept plugging the chute solid. Eventually I dropped the blower and went back to the rear blade, I'm hoping it goes a little better today.

About your plugging;


If you have a can or two of WD-40 or cooking spray that works wonders.
I use Fiud Film and is even better to keep ebverything from sticking.

I will be lining my snow caster with slippery plastic at some point.

Better keep moving because it looks like it is snowing really hard just behind you.

I guess with mainly heavy snow is the reason I have never seen a snow blower in use but just plows.

PS. Does one BACK when using a rear mounted snow blower?

I saw there was a thread recently about that. I honestly didn't think it was going to be an issue, but I may take the can of pam to it after my first experience. How long does a coating like that last, I would have thought a pass or two and you'd be back to square one.

I am curious as to why the blower gets plugged. Is the chute all rusty? The RPM's to low? There some good ideas being suggested here.
I don't think I have ever plugged a snow-blower up in 40 years of snow-blowing and some really heavy stuff. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Ken, I'm just north of Kemptville. Better get your butt home early and there will be a 2' rock hard wall of slush/snow at the end of your laneway waiting for you. For the plugging issue, just turn the rpm up. Cheers!

Lol...

It is a pusher, so I have to do the sidesaddle thing and plan my attack so that the wind takes the blow back out of my face...

Got 4" today, good packing snow, the kids will love it.

Re; blower plugging up: If there is a little inspection cover on the bottom of the shute, like the one on my meteor, take it off and turn up the rpms. Mine is a front mount and runs off the mid PTO at 1000 rpm.
