Paul, you hit my concerns pretty well. Sag and some type of support.

What guage of roofing pannels and how did you attach them?
I like the walls. I started to do the osb as well. I am going to wait for summer to finish so I can burn and seal them. I like the look.

I put up corrugated metal for a ceiling in my house. I simply put it up against the rafters and used self tapping screws drilled it up into the rafters. More than 20 years later, it still looks good. There is one exception. The corrugated metal had, it seems like a light oil finished to it. I put it up barehanded and left fingerprints and marks all over the metal. If I were to do it again, I think cotton gloves would eliminate the problem. As far as durability and ease of install the corrugated metal was top-notch . Blown insulation on top of it and you’re done.

When I did it in my barn, I just bought what they had at Lowes. I used regular metal roofing screws to install it that are the same color as the metal.

I thought I had a better picture, but I can't find it. This shows a little of it.

When I do my garage, I'm going to go with R panels. I like the flat surface for my lights. Home Depot and Lowes are a lot more expensive them Mueller's, a company that specializes in metal buildings in my area.

The last time I bought from them, R panels where about $3 a running foot, or $1 a square foot. That's about 3 times as much money as sheetrock, but you don't have to tape it, sand it, or do anything else to it once it's installed. I'm still debating on silver or white for the ceiling. I can order it cut to any length, and I'm thinking they will be 12'4" long.

29 gauge is the standard for interior panels. Some places provide interior panels at a slightly lower price than exterior. Interior panels don't have quite the same coating but most people just use the exterior ones. They only need to be supported every 4 feet and they will never sag. For my 48 foot long pole barn, I used panels that were 12'4" also. Easy to handle with a drywall lift.

I used "standard" steel roofing panels, 29 ga. for both the ceiling and 36" wainscoating. I used the regular 1.5" roofing screws - 2 per truss on the ceiling. No sag and plenty strong. I bought it all from Menard's - a big mid-western chain.

If you go metal RIB panels, I highly suggest atleast checking with your local metal roof supplier, and get the price per foot for the panel you want. Locally, Home Depot/Ace/Lowes are probably 1.75x the price, and it's what color/length they have on hand. The local metal roof supplier, certain colors have like a $0.10/lf uncharged, but most are all the same price per LF. Think anything 16lf or less, no additional cost. Need them at 7'8"; you can order them that length, same price, ect. Only down side; 8a-4p pick up, M-F

Lots of complication on panel pricing. Around here, Menards is similar to cost of roof suppliers, but HD and Lowes are more expensive. Roof suppliers have lots more choices on colors, styles, etc and trim but have delivery charges that are high for most homeowner quantities. Fortunately, the factory is near and doing the pickup yourself saves the delivery charges.

I did what the OP of this thread was thinking about, except my garage already had R12 fiberglass batts between the trusses held in place with 6 mil plastic vapour barrier. So I added 1 inch thick Styrofoam tinfoil faced 4 x8 sheets, I first installed that white steel drop ceiling tile angle1 inch that comes in 10 ft lengths around interior perimeter of 24 x 24 garage to hold the edges of the4 x8 sheets ( tinfoil facing down) I used 2 inch screws with a few hundred plastic washers I made ( simple 1inch squares cut out of stiff plastic I found) these sheets were easy to cut around ceiling lights, garage door track, winch hooks etc. I was worried about sagging, so added spruce strapping where needed , but the tinfoil tape you get for duct work worked better. Nice and warm with wood stove and shiny tinfoil facing helps lighting. And fairly cheap to do.
