I actually have an (really) old tow behind sprayer. If I can find some time, I'll just get a new tank and pump for it and use it. Good idea as it would work for both.

No, but dealer is trying to sell me a fairly new NH 570. It's in great shape but the $9K price tag is a bit high. There are a number of good NH 315,316,320 balers around for about $3K and my plan is to pick one of those up. Also looking for a NH 56/256 rake.

If you can swing it I would get the 570. There is nothing wrong with the older balers but you have to worry more about parts being worn out compared to the newer 570. If possible keep looking and you should be able to find a good baler for a little less. I paid $7500 for my 575 last year and I do not regret it. It was well maintained and very little wear on it.

The side delivery rakes are good rakes and will get the job done but if you have to buy I would consider looking at a rotary tine rake. They do a much better job then the side delivery in every possible way. I know most dealers want a lot for a decent NH 256 rake and for what they want you can buy a new Rotary for a little more.

Another thing you might want to consider is to look at the larger balers like the 326 and 575. For the most part they are the same as the smaller balers but the bigger pickup is nice in corners and if your rows are formed well. You have plenty of tractor to run them and it will give you plenty of options on the 2nd hand market.

Thanks for the info. Can you give me some ideas/examples on the rotary tine rakes? Who makes a good one that I can pull with the TC. I have lots of small fields in the 5-15 acre range separated by creeks and bluffs, so don't need/want one that is too large.

Thanks,

Kuhn makes the best on the market and Claas makes one that rates up there with Kuhn. For what you want you can get buy with almost any of them though. Pequea makes one as does a lot of companies so you should be able to find one or get one thru your dealer. One the size you want only needs around 30 pto hp. Here is the info on Pequea Pequea HR5
