I have searched this forum for a couple of weeks now looking for infomation. Currently I am looking at the following and cannot decide:

1. New Holland TV140, 2001 model with 4140 hours. Good condition, but used.

2. Kubota M108X. This would be a rental return with 250 hours, new loader installed. (best financing options with 20% down) Also warranty of new machine.

3. Zetor 8441, with 30 demo hours and new loader.

I see a love hate with all makes/models, but cannot decide what would be the better buy for our operation.

We hay about 75 acres, run 100 head that need fed, and need to plow snow in winter. Other uses would be around farm.

Other things to consider, can get NH with NH BR780 round baler for price of Kubota Tractor alone. Zetor is about 20% less than either of the others, but dealer is two hours away in a different state. Other two dealers are in town about 1 mile apart. Have heard NH dealer has better service department, but have also heard of some horror stories on either side.

I like the NH the best (haven't sat in Zetor). What types of problems will I run into with any of these? Anything else I should consider since prices are all about the same?

Thanks. I am listening but need to get some answers to the dealers by the end of the week. The end of the month with lackluster sales this summer has them hungry, so I think odds are in my favor on the bargaining end of things.

I also looked at a Deutz-fahr, but have never known anyone that has a newer one of them.

I would be careful of the TV140. It has a hydro trans, and if that goes, you are in super $$$$ for the repair. Personally, I would not buy it with those hours on it.

JMHO.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

That was part of my initial response, but the articulating turning radius seems it would come in handy for stacking hay in a narrow barn, as well as feeding in tighter quarters.

Do these have a reputation of the hyd pump/system failing? That would pose a huge problem if it went goofy and had to shut down the whole outfit until something was fixed.

I guess I'll add the prices I have been able to come up with so far:
NH 45000 (4.85% w/10% down)
Kubota 53000 (0% w/20%down)
Zetor 36000 (5.95% w/20% down)
Deutz $49900 (not sure on financing with them, they were running a 0% for 48mos earlier this year)

Although price is a large concern, I am not opposed to paying a little more up front to have comfort in knowing that when it breaks, the dealer will be able to get things up and running in a timely manner. When it is time to make hay, it is time to make hay.

The Kubota's with the bi-speed turn is very good in tight areas!

I bought a new Zetor in '04 and would buy again. Discount parts are available on the internet at zetorusa.com UPS to the shed, so distance has not been an issue although my Zetor dealer is the same distance as a Deere dealer.

I took out the back cab window with a rock one year and had new glass delivered within days, cheap too. Take a look at replacement parts costs and delivery times for the machines you are looking to buy.

The NH TV140 is in a different league than the other tractors. I have never used one. Attachments available for both ends, pivoting seat, hydro tranny ect. They are used mostly by owners who do make hay and have cattle. A very versitile tractor for both tasks. I tend to see them only with ranchers and feedlots. They can mow and bale the hay, move the hay, store the hay, feed silage, clean out manure all very easily. Much bigger physical size with the NH compared to the others. Almost 15000 lbs for the NH vs 8800 lbs for the Kubota. Don't need any ballast with the NH no matter what end your using. Is 4000 hours a lot for the hydro NH? Regular tractor no, but don't know about the hydro tranny.

Kubotas are good and no issues. Your most $$ listed tractor but has full warranty and almost no hours. Kubota tractors always seem to be light in weight compared to other companies tractor of similar size.

Zetor and Duetz are just too rare for me. In my area , resale would be extremely poor with both. Zetor had a poor, early track record and I still can't get over that.

I would not choose any tractor without nearby service unless you don't have any choices or very poor choices. Repairs and parts are too much of a potential nightmare. You have 100 head of cattle and haying. You will have repairs and need parts. I have seen Zetor's a few years old for sale that no one will buy because a repair issue.

For me, it is NH vs Kubota. The NH may be more tractor than you need for the size of your operation. You may consider looking a more tractors in the used category. Buying a low hour (less than 1000-2000 hours) tractor in the 85-110 hp category can sometimes yeild a bargain. You didn't say, but are all of these tractors with cabs? I hope so.

Yes all are with cabs.

The horsepower range you mention is where all of these fall in.

I did come across a Kubota M120DTC for considerably less, but private party so captive financing would be ruled out. I would have to put a loader on this, but should be able to get into it for under $25K. This particular machine has about 2100 hours.

I am curious why you say the NH is too large. Perhaps I left out the near term plans of acquiring close to half working interest in larger ranch, >10,000 ac with upwards of 700 head. There is oviously some equipment that is there, but looking for something to dedicate to our place as well as having option to putting it to use more extensively on the larger place when need be.

Perhaps some better deals will come about as harvest winds down and the winter starts settling in.

Thanks for the input so far. Keep it coming.

I have the Kubota M105, (same as the M108 but the M108 has the new tier 3 engine for emissions) You will not go wrong with this tractor! It will go anywhere, pull anything, and the biggest repair i've had was a radio antenna
I broke off. However, I think you can buy a 0 hours new one with a loader for 53K or a little less.

So it comes down to dealing on the NH. The others were not willing to move on price. I guess they must be selling units, seems odd but I don't see a whole lot of anything moving.

So far the offer is $61,500 for the TV140 with 4100hrs, NH BR780 round baler, and NH 216 hyd fold rakes. 10% down, 4.28% for 6 years.

Do you think I should bite, or make em sweat a little longer?

It is the end of the month and they say they are motivated.
