Blue smoke on cold start/cold outside

Don't then.
The video looks like a cold weather start thing to me.

Don't then what? It's not my tractor, so saying that to me makes no sense.

Yes, it looks similar to cold weather starting issues, but since it also happened in July, something else has to be happening. An injector problem is the most likely culprit.

Further, watching the video show that after it starts to clear up, one cylinder appears to still be puffing smoke a bit, but not consistently, and that doesn't normally happen with indirect injection engines after the smoke starts to clear up.

Not sure why, but it seems you're getting upset with folks for politely making comments on this thread...its just a discussion :)

You're wasting your time- I already explained all of what you said, several times earlier in this thread- sometimes there is no getting through to some people.

Since my first cold start it doesn't matter. Jan or July, 8 or 80, after glow plugs, injectors, timing and fuel pressure checked. Then we started throwing things on board like new injectors and new glow plugs. Air, fuel and oil filters always replaced every 100 hrs. Every fueling has had many different additives. Never spent a night outside. And after all is said and resaid..."every Cold start it smokes for more the 20 seconds. And never smokes again the rest of the day" Bought 11/11/11 and has 1000 hrs runs great and I love the tractor. I would like to see how many DK50's don't smoke blue on cold (first one of the day) start.

I own an 07 DK45 with 1200 hrs. Inside with temps from below 0 to 90 degrees, I have never had smoke like that. I even had an issue with my glow plugs not working for a while. If it is still under warranty, I would have dealer look at video and let him decide what to do. I would suspect leaking injector. Does the DK50 have a turbo?

It could very well be a timing issue, but I would suspect bad injector spray pattern to be the culprit. Even brand new injectors should be bench tested before installation for proper opening pressure and spray pattern. I've seen new injectors have worse performance than year-old used ones on many occasions.

Looks like 1-glow plug not working to me . Plus 1- injector sticking .

Sent over video to the service manager today. He stated that he watched it along with two mechanics. He said that they all smoke in the cold. He is concerned about the puff he sees in the video. Might be a sticking injector. He stated that I have a four year warranty and to keep an eye on it. If it changes or gets worse to contact him. What do you think of this?

I think if he thinks its got a sticking injector he needs to be replacing it now not if it gets worse.. You bought a good tractor with good money and have a warranty.. Its time for that dealer to fix the sticking injector

I agree with you. I will give it 2 weeks and probably be in contact with him again.

MIGHT BE?! Really. Gee, that's what I've said since day one. And NO, don't wait and see, get them to replace it, or repair it, and refund the $170 they charged you originally for their crappy diagnostics and 'service'. You paid for a warranty. A pissing injector will allow unburnt fuel into the crankcase and cylinder walls, create the smoking and puffing you are experiencing, and render worse fuel economy, etc. That's not even accounting for the reduced satisfaction with your otherwise excellent tractor.

It's their job to fix it. Have them do it, under warranty, NO expense to you. Push has come to shove- don't be intimidated by their care less attitude, require satisfactory service from them.
