Bobcat 763 oil leak from drive engine

Hi, this could be a reoccurring problem even though I do not find remedy in the repair manual. I have an old 763 hi flow with 6000 hours. After starting all works for a while then the hydraulic oil starts leaking out from a hole in the left side lateral drive engine into the oil pan. Could anyone advise what could be the reason and what should be done?

Your question, explanation is a little confusing. Do you mean "the oil is leaking from the left side drive motor into the chain case frame? If this is the case there is a seal between the drive motor and the chain drive shaft going into the chain case. Most common cause for this to start leaking is a lugged or restricted case drain filter located on the small line from the motor back to reservoir. To replace the seal, remove the motor and you will see the seal around the shaft. Pry it out and press in a new one. Put some Permatex type gasket sealant around outside of the seal when driving it in, this will help it slide in easier. Be sure to change or clean the case drain filters, 1 for each motor. These are the little silver canisters on the lines frome each motor to hydraulic tank.

Thanks a million, I'll check the seals and the filters first. I have never cleaned these filters, so this could be a probable cause. If not I'll sure be back with more questions and better expanations. Priit

Hi Dennis, my joy was shortlived. I cleqned the drain filters and replaced again the ring which is between the drive engine and the drive axels in the hull of the cat, just when you remove the engine it becomes visible. This seal, ring wore up in a month, it looks as if a moving part has had grinded it off. Have you come accross this problem? Thank you again for taking the trouble to answer. Priit

Just to clarify, it is the oil from the drive shaft that under the cabin that is finding its way out and damages the ring, not the oil of the drive engine.
