So are there any tractors that are 'home grown' built in North America? By that I mean US or Canada?

I didn't realize Ingersoll Rand was one of those slimy companies that based off shore to escape taxes...Bermuda based...

The government thinks they can tax the evil corperation all they want, but they just get more evil and go elsewere...

If I'm not mistaken the US has one of the highest corperate tax rates in the world. If I was a big CEO, I'd probably move to the Bahamas too.

It seems too many forget the prupose of a business is to make a profit. How they decide to make it is the product they build or resell. Funny to ask a person what the purpose of say John Deere. Many will tell you to make tractors. No they make tractors only to sell them to make a profit and they are proving that as they are also doing a great job selling their image.

Tax rate, it is higher than many countries.

Yor right, but I think many people think the purpose of a business is to provide jobs ( and health ins.).

Bobcat is consolidating operations to Gwinner ND. Bismarck will lose about 500 full time positions. The Gwinner facility is much larger and will accomodate more production. I listened to the news conference on Wednesday morning from the Bobcat NA operations chief. There had been rumors about bringing a CUT production line to Bismarck but when asked about that said no plans to do this. I have a business in Bismarck so it likely will hurt us a little. Different union representation at both plants so if Bismarck people went to Gwinner they would all lose seniority. Dooson (sp?) Heavy Industries says they are commited to keeping production in North America.

Agreed in principle, but in reference to the bolded part, if you looked at John Deere's mission statement and business plan, I would bet that it would say something to the effect of: "the purpose is to make tractors", not "the purpose is to make profit".

Just a hunch. Making profit is just kinda one of those things that every person and business entity does or thinks about, but it isn't necessarily spelled out or written down as a reason for existence.

Joe Walmartgreeter's purpose in taking a job is to make profit too.

It is from a government and chamber of commerce viewpoint, politically indifferent.
Consider every worker in the world as an independent subcontractor and that idea becomes invalid.
Reducing the homeless population and reducing the unemployment benefits given out by the state generally doesn't work well by "not" providing jobs.

If we could just take all the poor people in the world and dump them in a mass grave it would be such a better world for the rest of us.

Funny how you have this as a quote yet you don't seem to really believe it.
If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn't thinking

Have a nice day. :)
