Let us know if all is good, CT.:drink:

I hope to be able to work on it this weekend. I need to call my dealer and see if they have the fuel filter in stock.

Once I've drained the tank, and replaced with diesel, I think I can crank the engine with the valve turned off to purge the gas out of the lines and the pump. Does that sound correct? I was planning on just leaving the filter off and cranking the engine until the gas was out. I know you don't want to continue to crank as it will damage the starter, so I will do it in several short bursts of cranking. Does this sound like a good way to go about it?

Typically you drain the fuel manually, replace the filters and then crack the furthest fuel fitting on the injector lines. Then bump the motor over until you get a steady leak at the loose fitting. It may even start, which is fine. Shut it down and tighten up the fitting. It will purge any air left within a few minutes of run time.

Admittedly even though I have a 235, I haven't looked at the layout of the system, but I believe the process is described in the manual.

Yep you are on the right track

Do not try to start the tractor until you have completely purged every drop of gas that you can from the fuel system,
Do whatever is necessary to prevent starting ,
loosen your injector lines ,heck take em right off at the injectors, make sure the injector pump has been purged by cranking the motor until nothing but clean fuel
squirts from the lines , It may be helpful to add a couple of tbsp of 2 stroke oil to the new fuel , a little lubrication will not hurt and the color
will help you see the fuel Keep cranking intervals under 30 seconds ,keep battery charged up,

Good Luck been there done that, you should be ok fingers crossed

I plan on buying the dyed diesel, so that should help in determining when the gas is out and diesel is in.

It's going to suck because the tractor is stranded over a quarter mile from anything in slick mud on the edge of my standing soybean food plot.

Just thought I'd give this a thread an update. I was able to successfully get my tractor back up and running. I had purchased 4.86 gallons of fuel. When I drained the tank, I ended up with about 5.25 gallons. So I guess the good new is there was always some diesel mixed with the gas. I changed out the filter and used the valve set to air to purge the fuel. I added 4 oz. of diesel fuel treatment to help clean up the system. After cranking a bit today with the tractor only able to stutter, she finally fired. After a few seconds of white smoke, she began to purr again. She's running like nothing ever happened. In fact, maybe a little better since adding the diesel treatment. I'll be adding that every fill up in the future to help keep things clean.

Normally I purchase the dyed diesel since it's not taxed, but the gas station moved the dyed diesel pumps to a different spot and changed the heads to the high flow type. Those are **** near impossible to use to fill up a standard diesel can. I went Orscheln's and found a No Spill can with a much larger filler opening. I will be buying nothing but dyed diesel in the future to help prevent another "accident".

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Glad you are good to go!

I use both red fuel and commercial. Hope this is pertainate. MY ct 230 started bogging down then refused to start.

I Drained the fuel tank, used an old trucker trick. Pulled the fuel line to filter, used my air compressor and a wet diesel rag to seal up fuel filler, With the air pressure line.

blew air in the tank to purge it. After it started blowing air. I cleaned the filter with compressed air. Added about a cup of PS Octane boost injector cleaner.
Let it sit for an hour or 2, and blew the tank out again. It blew out about a cupful of dirty fuel and gunk. reassembled every thing, added a gallon of clean diesel and about 2oz, PS injector cleaner. Filled the filter with clean diesel.

Fired up on the first bump, and ran great. Not a recommended perminate fix, but it got me back to the barn, where I could do a full filter swap and reflush and clean the fuel tank.\

Hope this this helps if your stuck on the far side of the pasture and need a quick fix.
Cheers,
Matt
