I think you are on right track with the primer bulb. There is a check valve in it to limit drain back to tank, when these fail it can be either fully open and fuel drains back or check can fail closed causing engine to starve for fuel (like a plugged filter).

Good outcome! The primer bulbs do fail, as described above, and when they do they make for trouble until replaced.
If the bulb is located where there is a lot of heat from the engine, maybe you can move it some to keep it from getting baked. Or shield it from excess heat, to get the best life out of this bulb.
Keep us posted in a few weeks if the bulb was indeed the issue.:thumbsup:

OK, thanks to all who have responded and helped me out. Ever since I changed the primer bulb, I haven't had any issues. But, it's been over week and the machine starts and runs great!! I've got more heavy use in restoring a dry creek-bed this week so we'll see how 5 days of constant usage will work with the new bulb.
