Bobcat skidsteer tire chains and mud

wondering what is better new tires or chains on tires? am using skidsteer for farm duties, cleaning manure, moving hay, snow removal. But I need some traction in the mud. I have a hard tire on there now a Sampson tire I believe this tire is for hard surfaces cause it sure isn't for any type of mud. Wasn't sure if chains will help with mud or new tires would be better? Need help

My buddy has a Skid steer running pretty new tires with metal tracks over the tires. It does terrible in mud either way, but way better with the tracks. My tractor with unchained R4s has way better traction. I'm guessing chains would do worse than the tracks.

Skid steers are tough in the mud...especially deep mud. Once they bottom out on the undercarriage you are done. You may be able to find a used over the tire track set up and that would work well for mud. I have seen them on CL on occasion in the 1000.00 range. I ended up putting a whole new Loegering VTS track set up on my 246 and it completely changed my machine.. it is unstoppable now.

You cant beat what chains will do for you for the relatively cheap cost compared to other solutions. If you happen on to a set of OTT for cheap, they will give you a ton of extra traction as Tomtint said above. I'm sure the "hard tires" do not help you, especially if they are the they warehouse/scrap handeling type I'm thinking of rather than the solid type that still look like SS tires.
