Sounds like a fair market price, no real deal.

773 lifts 1750 lbs, as a wider wheelbase and wider stance than a 763 or 753 and carries a 65" bucket as standard. From renting one one weekend had decent power- had a LOT of blind spots but the way the booms are designed as you lift and dump the bucket it kinda extends out and you are almost able to dump in the middle of a 1 ton dump truck.

773 was a very good midsized machine. Vertical lift, not too big or too small. Probably one of the most popular sizes. Overall very reliable machine. 1700 hours is not too bad but depends on condition, options etc. $12k price is also good price if in good condition. Those I have seen some at auction will bring $12-15K but with soft construction market, that maybe changing. Probably still has a lot of life remaining. Anything getting near 2500-3000 hours is probably getting beyond anything I would consider.
I bought my 1998 873 F model with cab heat, hand controls, and bucket at 1200 hours in 2003 used for $15k. That was a good price. Bought from a Cat dealer who wanted to get rid of it. Traded in last fall for 2006 S300 with 700 hours. Got trade in of 18K on 873 with 1800 hours but still in good shape. Dealer resold it about 3 month later.
Is it dealer or private sale? Does it have a kubota motor? What do you plan to do with it? How many hours/year will you add?
The boom design does create some blind spots, but there are certainly worse machines for visibility with vertical lift. I didn't have major visibiltiy issues with the 873 which used similar design. Visibility out the back is overall average among SS.

The 773G was a good machine. I sold many of them. The vertical linkage does have some blind spots but the machine does have good reach for loading trucks.

Thank you guys for your help.
I want to use it around the house and I also want to rent it to a Mexican brick paver when he needs it................?
This 773 is sold locally and I did not see it ..yet. I still can't decide which nachine would make more sense....243 or 773 . 19 HP vs. 49 HP. /there's another Bobcat to consider , also sold local/.
Is 800 lb capacity even an issue, if I am renting it, I mean isn't that toooo weak?

Thanks,

Joe

800lb capacity? That really won't do much for ya. We have a skid loader that is rated for 925lbs, it moves quite a bit, heavy loads (up to 900lbs) is ALL it will move. If you are thinking of renting out a skid loader to the masonary guy, I'm thinking he would be better off with the 873 that was mentioned or something that lifts over 2K, but that machine won't be small and compact for around your house. Your comparing apples and oranges.

Thats a good price for those hours if the loader pins are good and tight still and the machine is not all dented and banged up from being misused.
It will have a excellent kubota diesel (773t had a Kubota turbo diesel) They are likey the most popular sized and common machine in Bobcats lineup. rated 1750 lb lift and 3500 lbs tipping load.

Beware of error codes on the display and check the auxialy hydraulics to see if the function correctly. Bobcat has electronics monitoring the engine and controling the aux hyd and they are hard to fix without the dealer tools. Same for the AHC or advanced hand controls,(allows ou to shut off the foot pedals and run the machine aiall with your hands) I recommend avoiding those and getting one with foot pedal for the loader lift and tilt. Ahc is a expensive nightmare when it screws up.

State of Minnesota is building a new freeway through the south end of my farm. In addition, they are upgrading the county road on the east side of the farm. So lots of construction equipment around for the last two years. The main contractor operates almost all Cat equipment (D3 to D10's) except for skidsteer and compact track loaders. These machines are all Bobcat. I asked a foreman one day when they were working at the end of my driveway why they didn't have Cat skidloaders and track loaders. He said they used operate Cat but too expensive, maintenance costs especially undercarridge on track machines too high, and finally low resale value on the Cats. They went back to Bobcats because they cost less, maintenance costs much lower, and terriffic resale. A T250 operating that day was a 2006 model with 3800 hours-no problems. An 873 working with an asphalt crew had over 8000 hours.

My farm renters have a 773 Bobcat. They love it.

I'm not discounting much of what you said but I can tell you from personal experience having sold over 200 Bobcat track loaders that the T250 owner you speak of has to be the luckiest Bobcat track loader owner in the world. Not to mention that assuming he bought it at the beginning of 2006 he would have had to run it for over 5 hours a day, 365 days a year up to now to get those kinds of hours. Amazing feat considering how much roadwork gets done up here in the upper midwest during the middle of our frozen winters. Maybe the road construction crews work all winter in MN instead many of them going on unemployment for the winter so they can fish and hunt like they do in WI. I'm truly happy for that owner though. he might want to keep it hidden because Bobcat may try to take it from him so that they can Bronze it.

I just checked the local Bobcat dealers list of used T250/300s. They had three with over 3000 hours including one with 5113 hours. I guess they were "lucky" as well. I suspect if Bobcat was going to bronze every Bobcat that achieved high hours it would be a pretty expensive proposition. As far as hours on the T250 working by me, it has been putting in 12 hour days ever since the frost came out.

Nothing against Cat machines. That's why I asked the question. I'm a bit of a machinery junkie so was impressed with the work these Bobcats were doing and the contractor's satisfaction with their performance and value. Just one situation in a big world.
