Bobcat's Future

   / Bobcat's Future #11
i was at a volvo dealer the other day. i asked about the rumors and the salesman knew nothing. he did mention that volvo is coming out with some track loaders later this year. if they are i don't see any reason for them to get bobcat exept the name recognition and dealer network. i tested one of their skid steers and was impressed with the pilot controls and operation of the machine. i believe volvo will slowly begin to make a name for themselves with the equipment slowly. however, with bobcat they would create a big need for their engines imediatly and have a line that needs improvements to its pilot systems. who knows,

IR is an enormous company and they want to get out of earth moving machines and high capitial investment, and into something that gives a nice return without so much of a technology and tooling race.

Bobcat is still very profitable as a company, but they put tons of money into R&D while still losing market share to CAT and other companies who are moving into the arena of competition.

IR has a lot of shareholders who want more out of their investment dollar. I can't blame them, it's a sound business strategy.
