Bob\'s Place in Winter

Everyone keeps saying to post pictures of where we call home, so, here's where we call home. There's 2ft. + of snow on the ground. This is a 10 acre parcel. House sits about 100 yds off the road and faces south (1st pic). The view out the back of the house looks north to the field and woods (2nd pic). The barn/shop sits to the west of the house. For perspective on the snow pile size, the barn doors are 8 ft (3rd pic). These pictures were taken December 22. It was kind of cold that day (high temp. around 8 degrees) and difficult to keep the camera steady without shaking. Surprised these pictures came out at all.

Re: Bob\'s Place in Winter

Nice pics. Makes me wish I lived where there was some snow. After looking at these pictures, I now understand the need for tractors and snowblowers. Looks like your machine has been busy cleaning the drive(s).

Take Care,
Boots

Bob
Nice Place!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. Looks like you have been hard at work for some time. What type of snow removing system to you use?

Re: Bob\'s Place in Winter

Nothing fancy. A Kubota B7100 with a 5' back blade. 100 lbs weights per rear wheel with chains on the rears as well. Get's a little tiresome pushing backwards, but I guess that goes with the back blade.

Re: Bob\'s Place in Winter

The original owner/builder of the house planted the evergreens in the summer of 1968 when the house was finished. We moved here in 1980. Trees were a lot smaller then. I like the variety they planted....different pines, spruces, and even some mung-ho bushes that we've let grow to humungous size. Some of the evergreen trees we've had to trim up quite a bit, others we've been able to leave with branches spreading onto the ground.

Re: Bob\'s Place in Winter

A front blade would be a great addition. A few weeks ago I looked into a FEL for the B7100....about $2500. With two kids in college right now, I guess the FEL or front blade will stay on the wish list. The good news is, my youngest daughter (16 right now) will finish college in 2006. The cost of a FEL will seem like pocket change by then after paying for four kids to get through school.
