Bolen\'s G194

Anyone have any experience with a Bolen's G194. There is a used one for sale I've been considering, but I cannot find much information about them on the Internet.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'll assume it's a hair smaller than my friends G214 Bolen...

G19=engine hp...19
4= 4 wheel drive
PTO HP est=~14-15 hp

All Bolen compacts were manufacturered by Iseki {mid 80's to early 90's} when they were owned by Troy-Built which just went Chapter 7 as of Sept. 30, 2001... so kiss the Troy-Built world famous rototiller goodbye... unless MFD brings them back to life.

I think my friends Bolens is a solid performer for a compact.
What kind of price is on the G194?

MTD has been building for them for a couple of years.

Boy are they cheap!! Anything MTD touches turns to trash. I think the only "original" Troy-Built units built now are between 9 and 10 HP.

If anyones looking, I have an 8 HP unit for sale with a chipper-shreader, front blade, and harrow attachment. I've spent probably a hundred hours behind this beast and it's still going strong.

It comes with a blade, bush hog, and a snowblower for $6500. Less than 500 hours on it.

Pricing is very tough to do... sight unseen...

The unit is not plentiful and price will be "whatever the market will bear"...

As a package deal, I'd shoot for $4500-5000... $5500 would be tops... don't forget that small PTO hp won't give you many future implement options to run...

I have a 1966 Bolens which is 20 years before the mid eighties.
From that period to the mid eighties Bolens was built and owned by FMC.

The Bolens lawn tractors were a different breed than the Bolens compact utility tractors. They were diesel engined tractors with 3 point hitches, pto's, etc. They were built by Iseki. Iseki currently builds tractors for Massey, AGCO, and CAT.

I like the Bolens Iseki compacts alot, and know quite a bit about them (member of a club etc). Anyhow, that price is a tad high for the NE US anyhow, dont recall where you live. I recently turned down an opportunity on a barely used 212 for considerably less money, and would have a hard time parting with 6500 with out a loader included. Parts are available, often through the grey market folks down below, and these are excellent tough tractors.

If this were a similar age/size kubota or deere, the price would make sense - approx $5 grand for the tractor, $1500 for the two attachments. I think it would be more realistic to price the tractor for $3500...

just my opinion, if it is super clean and you love it buy it. For some perspective...I have a similar age Mitsubishi Beaver (a bit smaller 15hp) with loader and tiller which I got for $2500 in real nice shape.
