Exactly. We work far too hard for what we have accumulated to have some deadbeat take it with no repercussions. Like I said, I hate a theif and will not hesitate to stop one if given the chance. I have far too many options for handling the aftermath to concern myself with that.

There was a case here about 20 years ago where the state police aired pictures of somebody stealing a piece of equipment from a dealership. Somebody recognized the truck and called it in. It turned out to be a local dirt work contractor, and as the investigation progressed they realized most of his contracting equipment was stolen. I guess that you have to keep costs down somehow.

I remember years ago, probably the 70s an equipment dealer dad worked with had large equipment stolen. They eventually found it in use at a coal mine in WV. Don’t know how that turned out.

So let me understand. You get a gun, that I assume is loaded, go out to confront someone stealing your stuff and just let them walk with your property without using said weapon to stop them? That's not how it works here. By the way, I never said anything about getting caught and going to prison.

If I knew someone was out stealing my stuff I would just call the cops I carry a gun in my pocket most of the time. I would not carry a gun out and confront them.

When I go check on something say a strange vehicle and my mother-in-law's lot I'm carrying a gun. That is my right as a concealed carry.

Use it to protect yourself and you will most likely get off. But you will go to jail and you will go through a bunch of legal bull.

This may vary by state but I've always believed after that using a gun, no matter how justified; your life is going to change, and not for the better. What I am defending better be worth it... and my chainsaw or tractor doesn't make that list.

Agree with this, the last thing I would ever want to do is shoot someone. And yes I think your life would never be the same.
