I am looking for a bolt on thumb for my JD 8B backhoe, anyone know where one could be found? I don't have access to a welder and couldn't weld it on if I did. I see they are making them for the smaller Kubota's backhoes. The boom on the 8B is 5 1/2" wide.

I am searching through threads for the same thing. This struck me as funny enough to comment =]

After sending dimensions to Bro-Tek Richard is making one to fit my backhoe right now. I should see it in a couple of weeks.

Just rec'd Bro-Tek thumb, took several weeks from Canada to Maryland. Unfortunately, because of a mixup in the model #, I have to drill two additional holes in the mounting plates. The unit looks like high quality and Richard @ Bro-Tek is very good to work with, offered to send new mounting plates. I only wish I had discovered the Thumb years ago, would have saved me a lot of effort in wood and rock handling. Anyone considering a Thumb should Google Bro-Tek thumb and watch the videos on how it works. This thing is going to make my firewood handling a lot easier. I have it mounted on a Kubota L2500.

I have a thumb on each of my hands and discovered at an early age how useful they were. I can't envision having my backhoe without a thumb. Especially when I need to pick up sticks. See sig.

That's why I got a thumb on my Woods BH70-X backhoe when I purchased it along with my Kioti CK35 over 2 years ago. Being able to lift some heavy rounds onto the log splitter is great, they were getting just a tad heavy for me to lift any more. I also use it lift logs into a nice position for cutting, I can do it with out bending and that is nice for my back. :cloud9:

The thumb that Richard made for my JD 8B hoe works really nice, if possible I would like to add a hydraulic cylinder to it someday. I did have to add to the length of it a bit so it would work a bit better with small items. Very, very useful add on for the backhoe I would have to say.

Google, Bro-Tek: Tractor Add Ons, check out the complete website, watch the video and then buy the Bro-tek thumb. I just bought one a few months ago and have been using it on a L2250 Kubota, primarily to lift and hold logs while cutting firewood. This thing works like a charm, no mor bending over with the saw and no more cutting halfway through a log thn trying to turn it so you can cut the other half while keeping your chain out of the dirt. This thumb is a bolt on taking only minutes to install and there is no need for hydraulic hookup, the bucket provides the hydraulic clamping power. This thumb has reduced my cutting time by at least 50%. If I was smart enough to load pics on this site I would show my rig in action with 25' logs. The Rep at Bro-Tek, Richard, is great to work with. Check around on the Forum for older "Thumb" comments, there are many. Good luck.
