bolt on or weld on cutting edge

I mentioned this on another toothbar thread, but it is worth repeating. When it comes time to take off your toothbar for any reason, use the hydraulics to "shake" the bucket rather than muscling it off. Mine should have come off easy, but it hung up and one quick jerk gave me a pain in my back for a month. Never do anything by hand that you can do with a tool!

I called Rick the other day and had my reversible bolt on cutting edge in three days. UPS lady never askes anymore what some of the things are she delivers to me. Drilling six 1/2 inch holes in the original cutting edge goes pretty easy. This steel isn't as hard as I thought it was. I wish I would have installed this cutting edge from the start. The only problem I can see is if you wanted to also add a tooth bar. This edge would have to come off but then a tooth bar has it's own cutting edge bar.
Thanks Rick

So is the only purpose of a bolt on edge is to protect the factory edge from wear and tear? If you bend the bolt on, arent' you likely to bend the one it's bolted to as well?

would be super hard, with a 1500lb lift loader to bend both the bolt on and stock cutting edge at the same time. Not terribly difficult to bend stock cutting edge, particularly when dealing with big pointy rocks. Once the edge is bent, no fun picking materials up from the driveway.

I ordered my edge from Rick yesterday and should receive by Friday in time to bolt to my bucket.

Just finished mounting the bolt on cutting edge, thanks for the prompt delivery Rick. The hole drilling was rough going at first, used 1/2 to start with and that was a bad idea, even with Drill Doctor first two holes took forever. With 1/4 pilot, next 4 were piece of cake. Glad I bolted on instead of welding will make swap over when flipping the cutting edge (double edged) easier.

Thanks all,
Joel

I'm about to install one of these on my ck30. Those of you who have installed, any tips you can share about proper placement, etc?

thanks.
