Was hoping the volume rain we're getting here in NC would extend over to TN but that doesnt look at all likely. At least this rain (as you said) isn't a gully washer so it should be of value instead of running off. I think you all in W NC are having it as bad as E TN.

Yeah, I wish our rain would move on to Tennessee, too. After I poured about .37" of rain out the gauge yesterday morning, we had a warm, sunny day and almost all the puddles on our place disappeared. And then high winds and heavy rain arrived again this morning and in the last 45 minutes, I've gotten .4" of rain and it's still coming down.

It's been really dry here in central VA too, but woke up to a nice steady rain and it hasn't let up yet.

Agreed...it seems by the time rain makes it that far E its run its course and nothings left or it chooses another path. At least the eastern states have gotten some rain...which I know was greatly needed.

Ended up with about an inch and a half of rain. Rain stayed until the early afternoon, a good 10 hours. So, although not as much as I would of liked, better than nothing and it probably was the best light, good soaking rain I've seen. Figuring that 1.5" at good saturation is better than a "quick" 5" with a lot of run off. Watching the news last night, eastern part of N.C got the most rain and as you went west, the amounts diminished (hardly anything is Asheville, who I hear has it worse off than us as far as lack of rain for the year).

We got about the same, drizzled on into the night. Sure was glad to see it.

my parents live in Memphis TN.... i think they are 11" short for the year and they are headed into the summer which is usually the dryest time...

We are really dry here in Southern Indiana. There was some hit or miss showers on Saturday. I made 3 trips to a mulch supplier about 25 miles away on Saturday and I drove through lots of varying intensity showers all day. My wife was at home all day and said we had one pretty hard shower for about a half hour. It's still way too dry though, I don't think that rain Saturday did anything. My pond's down at least 12".

Yup, its really a bad situation going into the dryest (and hottest) part of the year w/ such a deficit. I think we're about 1/4 short right now.

I thought you all in the midwest were getting plenty of rain....

You folks sure have my sympathy. I know how you feel, because we had a drought the last two years. However, it's just the opposite this year. That 20% chance of rain that was forecast hit here with a vengeance an hour or so ago; another frog stranglin' gully washer, just a little very small hail, pretty stout wind, lasted less than a half hour and I poured another .6" out of the gauge.
