One more thing - the 50 amp fuse is part number T1060-30530 and it cost me $3.65.

No. I'm guessing it's proprietary and it looks like this.

Okay. New fuse is in, engine starts, alternator is making voltage! Phew. Dodged a bullet. Thanks again. I really appreciate the help.

I remember working on an application with a real odd, expensive and hard to find fuse ( pre internet ). Used the old fuse body and soldered in taps to use standard bus fuses. ( was pbx equipment )

Looks like what is called jewel case fuse, pretty common in auto use.
