According to the manual for my 4675 BH, "The boom lock should not be used when the unit is stored or parked." It goes on to say that the safest procedure to use with the least amount of load on the BH components is to lower the boom and allow the bucket to rest on the ground.

I prefer to keep the boom locked when my Kubota is parked. Anyone care to comment on this?

Bone, its my understanding that the boom lock is for transportation not for storage. The hydraulics leak down slowing under storage, if the boom lock is engaged then pressure is put on the locking mechanism over potentially long periods of time. Simply lowering the boom allows the floor to take the weight instead of the lock.

I have never used my boom lock. But I have only used my BH on my property. When storing the BH I always put the weight on the dolly or floor that it is stored on.
If you do not use the lock when moving tractor from one area to another be careful that BH does not drop down and catch on something. :(
